Facts about the model

Generation T2 of Volkswagen Type 2 came in 1967 and is often called the bay-window bus due to the large vaulted front window (previously flat). Then with a new 16 cm longer body with full front window and slightly stiffer lines than the predecessor. Compared to the old Split bus with split front window, originally arrived in 1950, this was a much more modern construction with significantly better comfort. Double sheet in some places also made it more twisty.
The Bay model was built until 1980 and is today considered together with its predecessor as the most sought after bus models. VW Type was available as pickup, single and double cab, van and minibus.
In 1972, the 411 Type 4 engine comes as optional and the following year the emblem in the front becomes smaller. At the same time, Type 2 gets new, more angular bumper and blinkers creep up slightly.
In 1974, the Type 4 engine has grown to 1.8 liters and 68 hp. The US model gets injection, which will soon also be on the cars sold in Europe. In 1976, the injection engines are enlarged to two liters and 70 hp. Built to 1980, today is a popular and sought after classic hobby car.
