Mechanical condition
Brand new engine, gearbox and declutching. Easy to start and runs well. Restored brakes. On this car everything works.
New battery under the rear hatch. Tires with good patterns. The spare wheel has a modern motorcycle tire. -
Interior condition
Dressed in artificial leather, with the original as a model. Carpet on the floor. With some work on the details the car would reach a new level.
-
Exterior condition
Extensive sheet metal work done, the painting has some orange peel scratches and traces of putty work. Poor fit on some sheet metal parts, such as the door. Missing chain links between rear fenders and body, as well as some uneven sheet edges.
The chrome is in good condition but not perfect. The radiator cover - among other things - has some damages. Newly sewed hood.
After-mounted position lights, indicator signal lights and not the correct (but typical) rear lights of the time. Originally yellow with black fenders. -
General condition
Good overall impression but would reach a new level with some work on the details.

Facts about the model
5 HP / CV was Citroën's first mass-produced car and André Citroën's ticket into the small-car market, which at least in France was completely dominated by Peugeot and Renault. As the innovator he was, he focused particularly on the female car buyers. Just as new was that the car could be bought on credit.
As it initially only got painted in yellow, it soon became nicknamed The Little Lemon, and in 1925, 5CV accounted for almost half of Citroën's total sales. A total of 83,000 cars had been produced until the production was closed in 1926.
The model was available with several bodies and one of the most popular was the Torpedo - with its sporty duck tail. Torpedo was built with both short (C2) and long wheelbase (C3), and like the other 5CV, the body had a wooden frame and only one door, on the passenger side.
Under the bonnet is a four-cylinder 856-cc engine - developing eleven horsepower’s - connected to a three-speed gearbox with unsynchronized first and second gear.
