"One of the cars assembled at the dealer makes it even more exciting. With the large 3.2-litre engine, this 70s classic runs as well as it looks."

Description

A very unusual and early Alpina built on a 528. Today renovated and in very good condition. At the end of the 1970s you could either buy a complete car from Alpina, or - like here - order the unique Alpina components via your dealer.
As almost new, this car was refined to Alpina by a German BMW dealer and the changes were extensive. The engine was enlarged to their biggest option - 3,2 litre, six cylinders and 240 hp making zero to hundred in 7,9 seconds. Along with Alpina's powerful five-speed gearbox - with first gear in downward position – and the refined wheel suspension makes this car the optimal combination of a performance and family car.
Intside modified with Alpina interior, complete with the supportive
Recaro-seats in velour, the Alpina instruments and steering wheel. The exterior was completed with the original “pastellblau” colour with Alpina's decor and the classic 20-spoke rims.
This car - with chassis number 4770552 - has been carefully renovated by a German private person and consistently holds very high class inside and out.
The car runs very well and feels just as tight and fun as it should.
The special Alpina interior has survived very well over 40 years - with only one extremely small burn hole in the driver's seat - and the hint of sun-bleaching on the upper edge of the rear backrest.
This is a BMW that is early modified with performance parts from the well-known Alpina. Thus, not to be mistaken by a regular E12 528.

Facts about the model

Already in the early 1960s Alpina started competing with BMW cars and soon its performance parts were offered to the market - from 1975 this through a selected network of BMW dealers across Europe. Somewhat later Alpina started to produce complete cars. BMW's 5-series generation E12 came in 1972 and was ended in 1982. Alpina’s performance versions came in a range of different engine sizes - from 1990 cc to 3453 cc - all based on BMW's fantastic engines. In 1977 you could buy the 5-series as Alpina 520i A4 with a 2-liter engine of 158 hp, Alpina 528i B6 with 2.8 litres and 197 hp, Alpina 530i B2 with a three-litre engine of 227 hp, 530 B2s with 247 hp, 530i B3 giving 247 hp – and finally with the three-litre engine enlarged to 3.2 litres and developing 237 hp.
