Model B – tillverkad mellan 1935 och 1952, presenterades som en mindre traktor skapad för att hjälpa jordbrukarna med mycket radgrödor. Under de nästan 20 åren som den byggdes kom tre generationer. Unstyled, Early styled och Late styled. Likt flera andra John Deere fanns den dessutom i flera versioner, bland annat med kort framaxel. Den tvåcylindriga motorn på 16 hästkrafter klarade en tvåskärig tiotumsplog.
Under andra halvan av 30-talet följde de flesta av Amerikas ledande traktortillverkare modet med rundad formgivning som lånats från bilindustrin. I John Deeres fall kallade man in dåtidens stjärnformgivare Henry Dreyfuss. Hans rundade former lanserades 1938 på Model B, och den nya looken kom att prägla John Deeres utseende i mer än 20 år.
