Chrysler New Yorker 5.3 8 Cylinder — 1948

A magnificent premium car that came to Sweden from the USA in 2012 and has had the same owner since then. It has an older renovation that has held up very well.

Description

Magnificent Chrysler New Yorker with a spinning straight 8 under the hood. In Sweden, the American cars of the 1940s with a chrome-heavy grill went under the epithet "Dollargrin". This dollar grin was imported to Sweden in 2012. It was bought by a car-collecting tyre wholesaler who put it in his collection and only drove short summer trips with it. Now the owner has passed away and the car is being sold for his estate. The meter reading of 84273 miles, corresponding to 135,500 km, can not be confirmed but can be correct given its fine condition. Spare wheel with new diagonal tyre included. As a vintage cat its tax and inspection-exempt.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Equipped with Chrysler’s Spitfire Straight-8. A straight 8-cylinder side-valve engine of 323 cubic inches, or in metric dimensions 5.3L. In this embodiment, the stated power is 137 hp. The gearbox is Chrysler’s Fluid Drive. During the photo shoot, the car started and went well. Raw strong at low speeds. A little special driving technique with Fluid Drive. Mostly stood still since 2018, so a little review and service are recommended.

  • Interior condition:

Reupholstered seats and nice door cards. Stylish instrument panel in Art Deco design. Crack in the glovebox door. See picture

  • Exterior condition:

The paint has some stone chips, scratch marks and paint flakes. Minor pinch damage on the right front wing near the chrome trim "see picture". Good condition on chrome and trims. Equipped with time-typical extra lights. The body gives a solid and good impression. New radial tyres with white walls were fitted in 2012.

  • General condition:

Nice impression all around, and it's ready to be used. It's possible that the battery has to be replaced. We gave it a charge, but we are unsure whether it is still in working order.

Facts about the model
