Facts about the model

This is a race ready Volvo S60 Challenge, The last one of only 26 build. A rare opportunity to get a piece of Volvo race history. The car is ready to race. Short about the history:

The Volvo S60 Challenge race project was started by Volvo in 2001 and this car (nr 26) was only shown and driven for promotion. Chassis no 26 was finished in 2002 and did not run in any race. It was kept as an extra car, a spare car, in storage in the internal Volvo test department locations in the Gothenburg factory for nearly 15 years. The history says that it was kept to be exposed in the coming years in the Volvo Museum. However, one of the actual race-drivers from 2002-2003 managed to buy it from Volvo, to use it for historical racing in 2017. But then he didn´t have the heart to race it because of the “close to new condition”. That’s why its for sale now as a timecapsule of the days when Volvo put millions of Swedish Crowns into racing. The actual last Volvo-build-race car in a long tradition from Volvo PV, and Amazon Sport in the fifties and sixties to the 240Turbo in the eighties, to this car, developed in the end of the ninetees.

FACTS:
Volvo S60 Challenge race cars are based on the T5 R, 2.3L Turbo, road going engines found in the Volvo S60 T5. The Swedish engineers refreshed the 2.3L, inline five engine with a 3-inch diameter turbo back exhaust and a racing catalytic converter. Volvo calls the engines a “sealed unit”, meaning that only a qualified Volvo race car technician & engineers can crack open the block for any adjustments. The final result at the crank was 285BHP and 300 ft. lbs of torque all coming from a FWD (Front Wheel Drive) drivetrain. As far as handling goes the S60 has Öhlins 2-way adjustable race struts & shocks with a variety of spring packages, AP-Racing 4 pot callipers up front, AP Racing 2-piece 355mm rotors, 18×8 O.Z Racing Ultraleggera wheels, Michelin Porsche Cup 24/64-18 slicks & wet tires. To put the power down to the pavement it has a quick shift Tractive AB 5-speed dogbox with straight cut gears, Tractive AB clutch type limited slip differential, Sachs 4 puck un-sprung clutch & lightened flywheel. A front splitter and rear wing came as a factory aero package.
