Description
In recent years, several jobs have been carried out, and in the glove box there are receipts for, among other things, front-end alignment and replacement of the gear shift linkage. The electric sunroof has been refurbished and works, while the power window on the front right side is broken, but a replacement motor is included loose with the car, see photo. A few small parts for this are also missing. Around and on the underside of the sunroof, the fabric needs to be glued back in place, and new fabric should be sourced for the underside of the panel.
The car runs well in both engine and drivetrain. Before the current owner switched to an electric car, it was used regularly for longer trips between Stockholm and Grythyttan, a distance of around 300 km each way. This is therefore a car that has proven it can handle longer drives without problems.
The odometer reading is approximately 220,000 km.
The paint is not the car's strongest point, and it could be freshened up through a repaint or by repainting individual panels, for example the hood and front end. Otherwise, this is a pleasant car with good driving qualities and a documented history of ongoing maintenance.
The car was originally imported from the USA.
A car for those seeking a classic and usable car rather than a museum piece, and who would enjoy putting their own finishing touches on the final fixes.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Runs well in engine and drivetrain. The brakes work well without pulling to either side. The car's AC does not work, and the power window motor in the right front door is also not functioning. A used motor for it is included loose with the car, but some small parts are missing. All tires have dry rot cracks.
-
Interior condition
The interior is in good condition overall. Traces of use are of course present, see pictures. The headliner fabric hangs loose at the rear, see pictures. The headliner fabric also hangs loose around the sunroof, and the latter is missing its fabric covering, see pictures.
-
Exterior condition
The paint is in acceptable condition, but there are some areas to note, such as: blisters under parts of the paint, and some scratches and minor damage are present – please study the photos. The left door mirror has a color variation. The windshield has a couple of minor stone chips, and the headlights on the left side are hazy. The rubber seal around the rear window has shrunk and cuts across the corner on the right side, see photo.
-
General condition
A handsome Jaguar in good starting condition, ready for improvement. Considering the estimate, this one could turn out to be a bargain!

Facts about the model
This particular XJ8 is equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 producing around 300 hp, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox. One of the model's major innovations was the extensive use of aluminum in the body, which made the car significantly lighter than many of its competitors and contributed to both fine driving characteristics and excellent comfort.
The interior is defined by classic Jaguar feel with wood paneling, leather, and high-quality materials. Despite its size, the XJ8 is a car that feels relatively light and agile on the road. Comfort is high, and the car is built above all for long journeys, where the quiet V8 engine and the soft suspension come into their own.
The 2004 XJ8 is therefore an interesting combination of classic British luxury car and more modern Jaguar technology, a model that still offers plenty of comfort, performance, and character.
