Description

A fine Amazon estate which, according to the vehicle register, was imported. We strongly question this information, but we also cannot find any history from the car’s early life. The current owner bought the car in 2007 and is the only registered owner of the vehicle. A comprehensive restoration has been carried out on this car. The body was sanded down to bare metal and fully repainted. Some parts have been preserved from the original car and others acquired from classic car markets, etc. Everything is in fine condition. The engine was rebuilt with original parts, with the only deviation being an H-cam installed. Gearbox, clutch, driveshaft, and rear axle were also refurbished at the same time. The car has only been driven about 150 km since the restoration.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The technical condition is consistently very good. All functions are in proper working order.

  • Interior condition:

Overall fine interior. Seat belts installed. Small paint flake on the lower part of the speedometer. Vinyl seats without damage, clean and neat. Headliner, carpets, and panels in perfect condition.

  • Exterior condition:

Nice shine in the paintwork with only small signs of use. There is some surface rust at the front edges of the front fenders near the headlight frame and a minor rust spot at the lower edges of the doors. Insignificant, but present. Nice rims with good tires, though somewhat aged. No dry cracks. Spare wheel and jack. One key for functioning locks. Trim, glass, and light fixtures in good condition.

  • General condition:

It is with great pleasure that one steps into this wonderful car. Everything feels thoroughly well restored, and one can truly sense how families of the 1960s must have felt when they drove out of the dealership with their new car. A car fully ready for the road with only minor signs of use.

Facts about the model

Volvo Amazon “Herrgårdsvagn” is the Swedish term for the Volvo Amazon estate, which was the station wagon variant of the 120 series. Here are some specific points about the Herrgårdsvagn:
The Herrgårdsvagn, or Amazon estate, had a model designation that varied depending on year and specifications. The best-known model is the Type 121, which was the first estate version of the Amazon.
The Herrgårdsvagn had a distinctive design with a spacious rear section that made it ideal for transporting both passengers and cargo. It had large rear doors that provided easy access to the load area.
The interior of the Herrgårdsvagn was practical and functional, with room for up to five passengers. The rear seat could be folded down to further increase the cargo space, which made it popular among families and leisure users.
Like other Amazon models, the Herrgårdsvagn offered different engine options over the years, including 1.4-liter and 1.8-liter engines. It was known for its reliability and performance.
The Herrgårdsvagn was equipped with several safety features, such as a strong body and seat belts. Volvo was an early adopter of prioritizing safety in its cars, and the Herrgårdsvagn was no exception.
The Herrgårdsvagn quickly became popular on the Swedish market and was also sold internationally. It represented a combination of style, functionality, and safety, making it an attractive choice for many car buyers.
Today, the Volvo Amazon Herrgårdsvagn is regarded as a classic car and has a dedicated following of enthusiasts. Many of these cars have been restored and preserved in good condition by collectors and car lovers.
In summary, the Volvo Amazon Herrgårdsvagn is an iconic and beloved car model that stands as an example of Volvo’s commitment to quality, safety, and design during the 1960s.
