"A charming car that feels well-restored both in terms of bodywork and mechanics. A car that draws attention in every setting it takes part in."

Description

This car was acquired by the current owner in February 2008. At that time, it was a restoration project, which the owner immediately began working on. The body was fully restored over the following years until the car passed inspection in April 2014. In 2023, a used S engine was rebuilt and installed in the car. This was carried out by a highly skilled and well-known engine builder and specialist in Mini cars. Numerous receipts are available documenting the restoration. Since then, the car has been driven extensively by the current owner, who is also a dedicated Mini enthusiast. The car has been used both for shorter trips as well as for journeys abroad, including to England. It is in excellent condition, showing only minor signs of use.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Engine, gearbox, clutch and brakes are all in good working order. All instruments function except for the fuel gauge. The car is fitted with Minilite wheels and approved older tires. Working locks with double keys. Jack and starting handle included. Both luggage compartment and engine bay are in fine condition.

  • Interior condition:

Nice carpets and panels. Upholstery in good condition, although a cleaning would further enhance the overall impression. At the time of inspection, a seat cover was fitted on the driver’s seat, but the owner confirms that the upholstery underneath is in the same condition as the rest of the interior.

  • Exterior condition:

The paintwork has a nice shine, which could be further enhanced with a polish. There is a small surface rust spot in front of the right-hand door. The chrome is in good condition, though a polish would also improve the overall impression here. Trim and glass are in good, usable condition.

  • General condition:

Overall, this Mini makes a very good impression. Only minor and simple details remain to be improved, if desired.

Facts about the model

Mini Cooper S: History
The Mini Cooper S is a high-performance version of the classic Mini, with a rich history dating back to the 1960s. Here’s a brief overview of its development:

Origins (1961)

The Mini was originally designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and launched in 1959. It soon became an icon of the 1960s.

The Mini Cooper was developed in collaboration with John Cooper, a race car designer, who saw the Mini’s potential in motorsport.

The first Mini Cooper was introduced in 1961, featuring a 997cc engine and improved performance.

It quickly gained popularity in motorsport, especially in rally competitions.

The Cooper S (1963 onwards)

The Mini Cooper S was launched in 1963, fitted with a more powerful 1071cc engine.

It became famous for its success in the Monte Carlo Rally, achieving remarkable victories during the 1960s.

The Mini Cooper S continued to evolve through the 1970s with various engine upgrades and design changes.

Production of the classic Mini ended in 2000, but the brand has remained popular, especially among collectors and enthusiasts.
