Volvo 745 GL 2.3 — 1989

A uniquely well-preserved Volvo 745 that has only been driven 39,600 kilometers by the same owner. When the owner passed away, the car was taken over by his daughter, who now wishes to sell it. The car has never been driven during the winter months throughout its entire life.

"Ett imponerande skick, en underbar bil."

Description

It’s rare to encounter a Volvo in such fantastic condition. The car has been cared for from day one. It was driven more extensively in the early part of its life, but since then, it has seen very little use. It has been meticulously maintained and serviced. The daughter who currently owns the car has recently had it serviced at Volvo Rejmes, including new tires, a replaced timing belt with water pump, oil service, and much more—all to ensure the car is sold in the best condition possible. Additionally, it has just passed inspection.

I haven’t found a single rust spot on the car, but if there’s anything to mention, it’s a small parking dent on each front fender. These are very easy to fix if you want to invest a few thousand kronor.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Technically, the car is as close to new as possible. The engine runs quietly and smoothly, and the gears engage easily. The brakes are consistent with no rattling whatsoever. All keys are included.

  • Interior condition:

The car has had seat covers since it was new. It has only been used by one person, with no passengers—hence its condition. The headliner is slightly sagging.

  • Exterior condition:

The only minor issue is two small parking dents, one on each front fender; otherwise, it’s in excellent condition—5 stars.

  • General condition:

One is impressed that cars like this still appear. In such remarkable condition, any car enthusiast would be delighted to see and drive this vehicle.

Owner's comment

My brother’s pride and joy, which we now hope will find its way into the right hands. To someone who understands what an icon this car was in its time and who has the appreciation to preserve it in the condition he would have wanted.

Facts about the model

The Volvo 740 was developed in Sweden and the Netherlands, primarily assembled and built in Sweden but also in Belgium. Volvo invested heavily in the American market, where wedge-shaped, angular profiles were in high fashion during the 1970s and 1980s, leading to the distinctive angular design of the Volvo 740.

Production ceased with the 1993 model in the fall of 1992 due to the introduction of the similar, updated Volvo 940. However, two decades after production stopped, cars from the 700 series remained common on the roads in Sweden.
