"A good project to work on over the winter, with the welding already completed. From what I can assess, there are enough parts for at least two cars. All Volvo parts in the garage are included, as the garage is being cleared out."

Description

The current owner’s brother bought this car in 1990. At the time, it had been stopped during a roadside inspection and had received a number of remarks. He began by dismantling the car and removing the interior, after which it was sent away for welding.

Once the welding work had been completed in the autumn of 1990, the car was put into storage in a barn and later in a garage. Over the years, he collected used parts intended for the restoration, not only for the Duett but also for PV models.

As the garage is now being cleared out, all Volvo parts stored there are included in this auction.

Facts about the model

The Volvo PV 445 Duett is one of the most classic Swedish utility and family cars. Based on the PV 445 chassis, the Duett began production as a complete-bodied vehicle in 1953. It quickly became popular with tradesmen, businesses and families thanks to its generous load capacity and robust construction.

1958 is an interesting year for the Duett, as the model still featured the classic body with the older PV styling. The car was equipped with a four-cylinder petrol engine and rear-wheel drive.

Over time, the Duett became something of a Swedish icon. It was widely used in everyday life, and many examples were modified or worked hard, making well-preserved original cars from the 1950s particularly attractive today.

Typical features include:

Four-cylinder petrol engine
Rear-wheel drive
Manual transmission
Large estate/van-style body
Separate chassis
Excellent load-carrying capacity
Classic Swedish 1950s design

For a 1958 Duett, originality, rust condition, wood details, engine, interior and documented history are all important factors when determining value.
