Description
He too drove the car only occasionally in summer until 1987, when it was taken off the road. Whenever it was not in use, the car was always kept in a dry garage, which has helped preserve it in very fine and unworn condition.
The Ford has never required any rust repairs, although parts of the car were repainted sometime during the 1980s. It remained in storage from 1987 until 2025, when the current owner brought it out of the garage, had it recommissioned and serviced, and put it through inspection.
However, a fuel supply problem developed shortly afterwards, and the car was put back into storage.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The car was not tested, as it would not start at the time of photography. The engine has been serviced, but debris in the fuel tank causes the fuel filter to clog almost immediately, after which the engine stops.
According to the information provided, the engine runs very well and everything should function as intended. The fuel tank will need to be cleaned before the car can be driven properly. -
Interior condition
A complete and well-preserved original interior that would benefit from a thorough detailing.
-
Exterior condition
The partial repaint, carried out to a high standard in the 1980s, has remained in very good condition. However, the car would benefit from a thorough detailing, as it has been stored in a dry but dusty environment.
The chrome is also in very good condition. -
General condition
A car that was once a common sight on the roads in the 1960s, but is now rarely seen — especially in such fine condition.

Facts about the model
The 1963 model year belongs to the latter part of the P3 generation’s production run. The 17M designation refers to the engine size of approximately 1.7 litres.
Technical features include:
Four-cylinder engine
1.7-litre displacement
Rear-wheel drive
Manual transmission
Separate front and rear suspension
Available in several body styles, including saloon and estate
The Taunus 17M P3 was often nicknamed “Badewanne”, meaning “bathtub”, because of its distinctive softly rounded body shape. Today, the model is an interesting representative of early 1960s European automotive design.
A well-preserved original example from 1963 is relatively uncommon and can be particularly interesting to collectors, especially if it retains its original interior, chrome trim and drivetrain.
