Description
The current owner purchased the car last year. With a background in developing the Volvo 140 range during the 1970s while working at Volvo, and as an active member of the Volvo 140 Club, he sought out a well-preserved example to enjoy. The sale now comes only due to limited garage space—and a wife who isn’t too fond of its bright, cheerful 1970s colour scheme.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
We test-drove the car for 20 minutes and everything worked as it should. The engine started easily and ran smoothly, while the automatic BW35 transmission shifted as expected. Steering and handling felt stable, and the brakes worked effectively. Recent work includes new Monroe shock absorbers, a new muffler, and a new tailpipe. The car has passed inspection and is ready to be driven home by its next owner, with an oil service carried out in August and a new air filter installed.
-
Interior condition
Interior is in very well-kept original condition. Both the front and rear seats are comfortable with no damage, complemented by clean door cards, carpets, and headliner. The dashboard is undamaged, with all gauges and the radio in working order—and even the clock functions, which is a rarity on these cars.
-
Exterior condition
Bodywork is clean and tidy with no dents, damage, or rust issues. The underbody is also in solid condition and remarkably well preserved. The paintwork remains presentable, though it has been partially repainted in the past, with slight shading differences visible on the doors and some touch-ups in places (see pictures). Bumpers and chrome trim are clean and in good order, and the car sits on attractive wheels with chrome hubcaps and good-quality older tyres.
-
General condition
An ideal choice for a Volvo enthusiast seeking an easy classic to own and maintain. Ready to be enjoyed straight away, with nothing requiring attention beyond normal servicing and routine maintenance.
