"It's rare to see a car in such incredibly fine condition; you can imagine it looked like this when it left the showroom in 1994."

Description

The Volvo was purchased new in 1994 from Bilbolaget by Mrs. Margareta Hellström, widow of Director Hellström in Härnösand. Bilbolaget both sold the car and handled all the servicing over the years. In 2013, the car was then purchased by a man in Karlstad through his company, who shortly after bought it privately. He contacted Bilbolaget in Härnösand to obtain the service history. Since they knew the car well, it was no problem to get a printout from Volvo's internal system, TACDIS. This printout has been preserved and accompanies the car.

The current owner, a car enthusiast, bought the car for his collection in 2014 and has used it very sparingly during the summer. It has always been stored in a garage when not in use and has not been exposed to either sun or rain.

Facts about the model

Volvo and turbo became increasingly synonymous during the 1980s. Since the launch of the 244 Turbo in 1981, Volvo equipped its most powerful versions with turbochargers. It wasn’t until the 2010s that turbo became standard in petrol-powered Volvos. The combination of four cylinders and turbo even made Volvo world champion in the touring car racing class (similar to today's WTCR) in the mid-1980s with the 240 series—an outstanding achievement.

When the 900 series was introduced, Turbo versions were available from the start. There were even two different power outputs depending on the size and pressure of the turbocharger. The 'full-pressure turbo' 230FT was used in the traffic police’s patrol cars, earning a reputation as a fast and reliable colleague for emergency personnel.

The original 165 horsepower could be further enhanced with the Turbo Plus package, which added another 25 hp. Perhaps some people wanted to be faster than the police cars?
