Description

A pleasant Volvo 142 that has been well cared for over the past few decades. The car was repainted around 20 years ago and remains in decent condition. The body presents as well kept and period-correct.

The interior is also in good condition, with the upholstery presenting well. The car has recently passed inspection and has had several important items attended to. The braking system has been updated with new rear brake discs and calipers, as well as new front brake calipers. The air cleaner housing is also new.

The carburettor has been dismantled, ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt with a new repair kit, contributing to smooth and even engine running. The car has also recently been professionally cleaned and polished.

In recent years, it has mainly been used for trips to and from local car meets and for shorter drives in the surrounding area. It runs smoothly and offers the classic Volvo feel that has made the model so appreciated.

Facts about the model

When the four-door Volvo 144 was introduced in 1966, it represented a major step forward in Volvo’s development. The development costs amounted to SEK 150 million. Its angular bodywork, generous interior space for the time and strong emphasis on safety made the car a genuine milestone and helped shape the modern Volvo.

The Volvo 144 was also named Car of the Year in Sweden in 1966. In the following years, the basic model was joined by the two-door 142.

The first major update came in 1971, when the model received a new front end featuring a redesigned Volvo badge and the now-classic diagonal grille slash. In 1972, recessed door handles were introduced, of the same type later used on the Volvo 240. The gear lever on cars with manual transmission was shortened, while automatic models had the selector moved from the steering column to the floor.
