"Charming in all its compact simplicity."

Description

This right-hand-drive Morris Eight from 1936 is a fine example of the model. At some point in its life, the car has undergone restoration. The black exterior combined with the red interior gives it a very appealing and classic appearance. The interior is in good condition and contributes strongly to the car’s overall character.

Under the bonnet is the 918 cc four-cylinder engine. The engine runs smoothly, and the car started surprisingly easily with a small push despite the 6-volt battery being weak. There is, however, a crack in the engine block. This can be seen on the upper right-hand side at the front of the block; see picture. According to the owner, the crack seals once the engine has warmed up, but this is of course something a new owner should be aware of.

Although the car has previously been restored, there are still a few details that would benefit from attention. Some of the hoses have become dry and should be replaced or checked before the car is put into regular use. The chrome is in acceptable condition, and a selection of spare parts is included with the car; see pictures.

This Morris combines an attractive black exterior with a well-kept red interior and also has an engine that runs well despite the crack in the block. A number of loose spare parts and wheels are included with the car; see pictures.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine and drivetrain run well. The engine is leaking from what is believed to be a crack in the engine block; see picture. According to the owner, the brakes are weak, which appears to be common on cars of this age and design. The 6-volt battery is tired.

  • Interior condition

A well-kept and presentable interior. The door panels and headliner are intact, and the leather upholstery on the seats is in good condition. There are a few minor marks, but nothing that detracts from the overall impression.

  • Exterior condition

The paintwork is in good overall condition. Some wax residue from previous waxing is visible in certain pictures. The underside also appears to be in good condition.

  • General condition

A pleasant car in good usable condition, although the engine requires attention. Once this has been addressed, the car will be further improved.
