Description
The tires were date-stamped 1970 and extremely worn. They were replaced with new ones in size 175/70-14". The brakes were overhauled, with new rear brake calipers installed. The clutch master cylinder was replaced. The fuel tank was drained and cleaned. New ignition components—including rotor, contact points, spark plugs, ignition wires, and more—were fitted. The car was then polished and given an interior detailing. On 2023-06-07, it passed inspection at the vehicle testing authority and was once again ready to hit the road after 30 years of storage.
According to the accompanying documentation, the odometer has rolled over once, making the correct mileage 136,970 km.
The car comes with a spare wheel and jack, the original owner’s manual, and some extra parts as shown in the pictures.
This is a distance auction. The photos have been taken by an independent photographer. Information about the car and its technical condition has been provided by the owner. BWA has therefore not inspected the car on site.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The engine is a 2.0-litre inline-four with an output of 95 hp. It is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The engine was serviced in 2023 with new oil, filter, and ignition components. The brakes were also attended to at the same time. It passed inspection in 2023 and is approved until further notice. Easy to start and runs smoothly on the road. New tyres were fitted in 2023.
-
Interior condition
The interior is original from 1971. When the car was brought out and prepared for use in 2022, the interior was professionally detailed. The fabric on the upper part of the rear seat backrest, as well as on the driver’s seat, had become brittle with age and suffered wear-like damage during steam cleaning. The rest of the interior is in unusually good condition for its age, with a neat headliner, door panels, and dashboard. The radio in the glove compartment was most likely installed back in the 1970s. When the glove compartment is opened, the radio turns on; when closed, it turns off—a fun and clever solution.
-
Exterior condition
We believe the paint is mostly the original from factory. There are stone chips and a few small paint blemishes and some color touch-up. Nothing significant apart from repairs to the lower edges of the front fenders. The underside shows some surface rust but has otherwise held up well. A thorough rust protection/oil treatment is recommended here. See pictures.
-
General condition
Unusually good condition for regular use. The car was off the road between 1991 and 2022. It has now been overhauled, detailed, and is ready to drive. A relatively untouched original example, with nothing tampered with or altered.
