"The car has been started regularly and driven 20 kilometers each year, with an oil change and general checkup performed before each drive. Its last 50,000 km service and inspection were completed by the owner in 1998, after which it was stored in a warm garage as part of a Volvo collection. The car runs and drives well during test drives, with all electronics functioning properly. However, the AC is not working and will need to be recharged and tested. A new service and inspection are recommended before putting the car back into regular use."

Description

This car has a unique history, being a 1988 model with a blue and black interior—a combination that wasn’t available for the dark red metallic models, nor was it a dealer option. It seems to have been a special order by a Volvo employee, as it wasn’t registered until November 16, 1989, with Volvo as the first owner. The car was then sold to its first private owners, a husband and wife, in 1990, who kept it until the current owner, a Volvo collector, purchased it in 1998.

The car comes with a complete, documented service history, including a detailed mileage diary kept by the original owners, recording all travel up until 1998. The current owner, who owns several low-mileage Volvos, added this one to his collection in 1998. Initially registered under his company, the car was later transferred to him personally after he sold the business.

This car is likely the best low-mileage example on the market, remaining in near-new condition. It has been well kept and is driven approximately 10–20 kilometers per year to keep it in a good running condition.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

No issues to report; the engine, gearbox, and brakes all run and function well. However, a service, review, and new inspection are recommended before putting it back on the road. All the electrics are in working order, and the engine bay still looks like new. The AC was working a few years ago, so it likely just needs a recharge and review. The car comes with undamaged alloy wheels and older but good-condition tires.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is original and undamaged, with the leather seats are in a top condition, especially considering the car’s 36 years. The seats perfectly match the mats, door cards, headliner, and trims. An older mobile phone holder is fitted, and an original replacement trim piece is included if you wish to remove it. The car also comes with the factory radio/cassette player and equalizer. The dashboard is undamaged, with fully functional instrumentation. All the electrics, including windows, mirrors, seats, and the roof, work perfectly.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is flawless, with no damage, dents, or signs of rust, matching the condition of the underbody. There is only surface rust on the exhaust, which is standard. The paintwork is bright, shiny, and still looks like new, with no issues. The only minor note is a small scuff on the driver’s side front bumper.

  • General condition:

Any Volvo collector or enthusiast would love to own this car, as it ticks all the right boxes. It still looks virtually like new, has extremely low mileage, a full documented history, and a fully stamped service book. Additionally, it appears to be a unique one-of-one in this rare color combination.
