Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Runs well but has binding brakes. The ignition lock needs to be repaired/replaced as it stopped working during the test.

  • Interior condition:

Original interior in used condition with wear; holes are present, notably on the driver's seat backrest and the side upholstery of the rear seat. Carpets are glued to the floor.

  • Exterior condition:

A paint job from the 80s with spray filler spots. The chrome is in good shape except for the front bumper. It has been rust-repaired on the doors and undercarriage, and this has held up well, requiring no further action.

  • General condition:

Nice Saab that's ready to drive. If you don't mind the spray filler spots, the car works and gives a good impression from a bit of a distance.

Facts about the model

The 93 was Saab's second model and was introduced at the end of 1955. Compared to its predecessor, the 92, it had features such as a new longitudinally mounted three-cylinder two-stroke engine, more comfortable seats, and a twelve-volt electrical system. Unlike the Saab 92, it also had a much-improved wheel suspension with coil springs and a rigid rear axle.

In September 1957, the 93B was introduced, which had a full front windshield and proper turn signals. Moreover, the tank now mixed gasoline and oil on its own. Earlier that same year, as an accessory, the clever Saxomat clutch was introduced, eliminating the need to disengage with the foot. It was a German invention used in several other European cars.

In 1958, the sports model Granturismo 750 was introduced with a sport engine, and at the same time, the other models received various updates, such as a windshield washer and an external rearview mirror. In February 1960, the Saab 93 was replaced by the 96.
