"The Boss 351 is an iconic and rare muscle car, turning heads with its roaring 351 V8. The current owner and his family are true enthusiasts, owning and restoring several others of this legendary model."

Description

The Boss 351 was the high-performance variant of the first-generation Ford Mustang (1971–1973). Introduced for the 1971 model year, it came equipped with Ford’s formidable 351 cubic inch (5.8L) R-code V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Performance upgrades included front disc brakes and revised suspension, giving the car both the power and handling to match its reputation. Produced for just one model year, the Boss 351 is one of the rarest and most desirable Mustangs, with only 1,806 examples built. When new, the price was around $4,100.

This particular example spent most of its life with an owner in Minnesota before being imported to France in 2018/2019. The current owner acquired the car in 2020, registering it in Sweden on 30 September that year. A true family passion, both father and son are enthusiasts of the model—they own another Boss 351 and are in the process of restoring a third.

The car is believed to have been repainted and renovated in the U.S. about 20 years ago. While in France, it underwent a mechanical review costing approximately €3,500, during which worn parts were replaced. Today, it presents very well: straight bodywork, no rust or damage, high-quality paintwork, and an original interior in fine condition. It runs and drives exactly as a Boss should.

The current owner has only driven the car around 1,400 miles over the past four years, mainly due to work commitments and building a new house. The car is now being offered for sale so the family can invest in completing the restoration of their third Boss 351.

The odometer shows 27,247 miles, which could be correct, although it is also possible that the true figure is 127,247 miles. Unfortunately, there is no documentation to verify the exact mileage.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

No issues to report—turn the key and it fires straight up. As with all classic performance V8s, it benefits from a proper warm-up. The car drives well, with a strong engine, smooth-shifting gearbox, solid brakes, and confident road handling. The engine bay is clean and well-kept, still fitted with its original headers. The owner has never experienced any problems, though as it has seen little use over the past year, a routine service is recommended. Inspection-exempt and ready to be driven home.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is clean and well-kept, with tidy front and rear seats free from damage, complemented by matching door cards, headliner, and carpets. The dashboard remains original, with standard working gauges, Hurst shifter, and wooden steering wheel—just as it left the factory. The radio functions, though the speaker crackles slightly. In the boot, a new old stock vinyl checker mat is fitted along with the toolkit and original spare wheel. Only minor surface rust is visible under the mat from condensation, nothing out of the ordinary

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is exceptionally clean, with no dents, damage, or rust issues, and good panel fit throughout. The only minor note is that the boot lid could be better aligned at the front left corner. The underbody is solid, showing just some flaking of older underseal and light surface rust on a few components. Paintwork presents with a deep shine and only small blemishes—a scuff on the driver’s sill from entry/exit and a light touch-up on the boot edge (see pictures). Chrome trim, detailing, and wheels are all in fine condition, and the car is fitted with good tires.

  • General condition:

Now is the time to treat yourself to one of Ford’s last true muscle cars. A genuine icon, this Boss 351 offers years of driving enjoyment while continuing to rise in value thanks to its rarity and strong collector demand.
