Description
It was pre-registered in the Swedish vehicle registry on July 14, 1980. The plan was to completely restore the car to mint condition. However, other things intervened, and in 1997, the current owner took over with the same vision. After the car sat untouched in the garage for 26 years, the owner has decided to pass it on. He has restored several classic English cars over the years and realizes that he won't have time to work on this one.
The Swede who imported the car began doing some work on it. He had the left side floor repaired. During the welding work, a fire broke out in the floor mat, and the flames scorched the interior ceiling near the left sun visor. See picture. Fortunately, there were no other damages. The car couldn't be taken out of the tight garage space at the time of the photo (due to the ongoing restoration of another English car blocking the way). This will be sorted out when the buyer of the Jaguar picks it up after the auction. The original spare wheel, jack, and tools are included. Also, the original owner's manual and English documentation indicating previous owners are included. More history about the car can be found in the owner's comments.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Equipped with the coveted 3.8L engine along with a manual gearbox and overdrive. The car's engine can be turned by hand, so it hasn't seized. We have tested it. The engine hasn't been started since the 1980s and requires a startup service and inspection after the long period of inactivity. The car was driven under its own power in England and to Sweden in 1980. It needs brake refurbishment and a general technical inspection.
Radiator, bumpers, one door, and various smaller components are included separately. Refer to the separate images. -
Interior condition
Original leather upholstery, which is intact but a bit dry after all these years. We believe that a professional can apply conditioner and recondition the leather to restore its shine. The headliner is damaged at the left C-pillar and near the left sun visor. See picture. The front seats have been removed to access the repair of the floor panel. The wood on the dashboard is nicely preserved. The speedometer has been replaced with one graduated in kilometers. The original miles counter is included separately. See separate image.
-
Exterior condition
The car has an old repaint done in England before 1980. The paint shows signs of aging such as minor scratches, some cracking, and a few small rust blisters. There are some minor rust damages and blisters along the lower body and on the lower edge of the doors. Nothing extensive. See the pictures. We loosely attached the left front door during photography, and it fits well.
-
General condition
A good project car that was difficult to capture accurately in the tight garage space. What's positive is that the car hasn't been extensively disassembled yet. So, it remains largely untouched. This is something that car restorers often appreciate.
