"The ideal condition for an Opel enthusiast with a passion for the 1950s who just wants to nurture and drive."

Description

It was delivered new in Sweden in 1951 and was most likely renovated in the 1980s. The current owner's father purchased the Kaptain from a coworker in 1995 and has since used, cared for, and maintained it. Drove a bridal couple, went on dates, and so forth. After 2010, the car mostly garaged and was only taken to the inspection a handful of times. The last inspection has been approved in the summer of 2021 and is thus exempt from inspection.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily, runs smoothly in the engine and transmission, and has a wonderful mechanical feel. The brakes work as they do in a 1950s car, and they work evenly. The clutch slips somewhat, most likely because the car needs to be driven more.

  • Interior condition:

Gray and attractive cloth upholstery with slight worn marks here and there. Good door cards and patina headliner.

  • Exterior condition:

Original Opel colour is stylish and solid, with fine chrome on bumpers and details. Good fit on the doors and trunk, and fun with the rear-hung "suicide doors." Small rust bubbles on the passenger door threshold. Nice tyres and chrome hub caps; the steel rims might be repainted to look better.

  • General condition:

Cool and ready-to-drive old Opel with that wonderful, slightly incongruous sense of luxury in a car from that manufacturer.

Facts about the model
