Description

On September 12, 1949, the series production of the Saab 92 began. In January 1950, Philipsons could start delivering the model. The waiting list was said to include anywhere from 15,000 to 35,000 people. Four cars a day rolled off the production line at Saab’s factory. In the first year, no more than 1,246 cars were manufactured. During the first years, all cars of the 92 model were painted in a bottle green color. The Saab model had a transverse two-cylinder two-stroke engine with a total displacement of 764 cc, producing 25 hp. For the first three years of production, the model lacked a rear hatch.

This particular Saab was sold new in Brunflo, Jämtland, on May 3, 1951, and is reportedly the first Saab in Jämtland. Among the pictures, you can see the Saab standing under the wing of an airplane when the car was borrowed by Saab’s aviation department in Linköping to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The car has also been lent for a film shoot in which Carl Gustav Linstedt had one of the leading roles. The Saab has been owned by the Sellholm family since 1988 and is in an almost untouched condition, close to its original state.
