Mechanical condition
The engine was built by Kenneths Motor in Motala, fed by Dellorto 48 DHLA carburetors and fitted with a slightly milder camshaft for this context, often referred to as a “rally cam.” This type of setup is better suited to the car’s intended career as an endurance racer. If one wishes to easily optimize the engine for shorter circuit races, it is straightforward to install a sharper and more aggressive camshaft. In its current specification, the engine produces around 175 hp, documented by dyno testing at Köhler Racing. The gearbox features a close-ratio gear set with standard synchromesh, and the rear axle is equipped with a plate-type limited-slip differential and a 4.10 final drive ratio. The suspension components are sand blasted and powder coated; the control arms were new and fitted with Powerflex bushings when the car was built. Bilstein shock absorbers are fitted, along with homologated, approved ventilated brake discs from the Volvo 164.
-
Interior condition
The seat and harnesses are dated from when the car was built in 2014, as is the large 75-liter fuel tank. The roll cage is welded and, of course, approved, and was installed when the car was still a bare shell.
-
Exterior condition
Original factory color, paint code Turquoise 104, finished in a neat and presentable condition. Peggen Andersson’s first race car from the 1980 season wore this exact color, which explains the choice of livery. Approved hood pins, towing straps, an external cut-off switch and all other required equipment in accordance with regulations are fitted. New, genuine Minilite wheels with Kumho R-compound tires.
-
General condition
A competitive interpretation of the Swedish people’s car, the Volvo 140, for historic racing— finished in a cheerful color, with cost-effective running and readily available spare parts.
