"This moped is virtually 100% original and has been part of a private collection for over 12 years. It has been regularly used for short summer rides, recently reviewed and serviced, and starts easily on the first kick."

Description

The Grand Sport was produced for just two years, 1968 and 1969, and was available only in red (colour code 607) or blue (59). After this, Rex ended its own moped production and instead sold KTM mopeds rebranded with Rex decals.

At the time, the Grand Sport struggled to compete with popular rivals such as the Puch Dakota and Florida, resulting in relatively low production and sales volumes. This scarcity has made the model exceptionally rare and highly collectible today — even owners of extensive Rex collections report having seen only a handful on the road.

This particular Grand Sport was purchased approximately 12 years ago from a gentleman living on an island outside Stockholm, where it was used mainly for short rides between his home and the ferry terminal. This explains the low recorded mileage of just 9,173 km and the fact that it has had only two owners from new.

During its time in the collection, the moped has been carefully maintained in usable condition and recently fully reviewed to ensure everything functions properly. It has never been restored — only cleaned and polished — and remains highly original, including the paintwork. The only components believed to have been repainted are the triangular side panels beneath the seat, which show a slightly brighter finish and newer decals.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Always properly serviced and well maintained, the moped has been ridden a few times each summer. It starts easily on the first kick, with an engine that runs smoothly and reliably. The Grand Sport is easy to ride, featuring good gear changes and solid brakes. It sits on nice chrome wheels fitted with good older tyres and is ready to be enjoyed immediately.

  • Interior condition

Fitted with good rubber handgrips and the original seat.

  • Exterior condition

The moped presents extremely well, finished in a bright blue paintwork throughout, complemented by shiny chrome details. There are no obvious damages or signs of rust. If being very picky, there is a very small dent (approx. 2 cm) on the edge of the fuel tank, along with a minor chrome blister — both visible in the photos. Considering its high level of originality, it remains in truly excellent condition.

  • General condition

This is widely regarded as the most sought-after model among Rex enthusiasts and rarely comes up for sale. A unique opportunity to acquire a prime example that is fully ready for next season.
