"An outstanding car, complete with a rare original metal PAV40 trailer. A top-tier microcar package with genuine collector appeal."

Description

Originally Swedish-registered and likely used until the late 1960s, this Messerschmitt KR200 De Luxe was later stored for decades in a barn outside Laxå. The current owner acquired the car in 2018 as a complete and solid example and commissioned a no-compromise nut-and-bolt renovation.

The car was fully stripped, with the body and frame renovated first, followed by the engine, gearbox, and all mechanical components. It was then repainted in its original colour, with all chrome renovated. The original bubble canopy has been retained and paired with a custom hand-made leather interior. Most of the work was carried out by Bengt Norin, a well-known Messerschmitt specialist, using original parts and NOS components only, with absolute focus on originality.

The renovation took over two years, cost well in excess of 300,000 SEK, and the car was re-registered and fully inspected in 2021. Since completion, it has been used sparingly as a summer car and shown at prestigious classic car events, and is offered together with a rare original metal PAV40 trailer with working lights.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts easily with a little choke and, after a few minutes of proper warm-up, is easy and enjoyable to drive. Once familiar with the gearbox, you have four forward gears and four reverse gears, selected by the starting position of the ignition key. On the road, the car feels stable and confident, with solid brakes. The engine bay is spotless with no signs of leaks. It is fitted with attractive wheels and tyres, a chrome luggage rack, and is offered together with the original metal PAV 40 trailer.

  • Interior condition

The interior is immaculate, finished in a custom light-blue leather trim with contrasting black details and matching black-and-blue carpets. Everything presents in excellent condition, retaining the original gauges and an undamaged steering wheel.

  • Exterior condition

Bodywork still presents like new, with no damage, dents, or rust. Panel fit is excellent throughout, and the roof opens and closes easily. The original plastic bubble roof is in great condition, complete with sliding side windows. All chrome trim is bright and in excellent condition.

  • General condition

Even four years after the renovation, the car remains in tip-top condition — a clear sign of high-quality, professional workmanship. It is easy to drive and own, and wherever you go, it attracts attention, with people stopping to admire and photograph it.
