"The owner is a dedicated Volvo enthusiast who has owned and restored many Volvos over the years, with a keen eye for detail and a "do it right or not at all" mentality—hence, the project took longer than planned. This car has been completely renovated, with the full list of work detailed below. It was recently driven 60 km to our depot without any issues and performed excellently during our test drive, with no remarks. Along the way, it received plenty of positive comments and thumbs-up from fellow motorists."

Description

This car was sold new in Sweden and first registered in 1970, having six private owners excluding dealers. The current owner, a Volvo enthusiast, spent years searching for a manual Swedish-sold car in good condition to restore. In 2018, they purchased this car and spent 2 years completing a full renovation. After the restoration, they continued with small additional improvements. Over the past three years, the car has only been driven to local car shows and family events. Below is a general overview of the work completed during the renovation:

Bodywork:
Bare metal renovation with the rear panel fitted; the entire car reviewed, dents removed, and any holes welded
New paint applied both inside and out
New rubber trim around the front and rear
New windshield and all chrome trims
New blinkers, rear lights, and license plate lighting
New front and rear bumpers
New battery, fully equipped with extras
New mirrors and grill

Engine-Gearbox-Axle:
New pistons, rings, and bearings
Cylinder head renovated with new lifters and resurfaced valve seats
New clutch and bearings, along with a new water pump
Generator and starter motor fully renovated
New ignition coil
Gearbox fitted with new bearings, overdrive oil pump, new universal joints, and support bearings with rubber, plus a complete exhaust system
Rear axle fitted with new bearings, seals, and all rubber components
Brakes: 4 new calipers, new rear rotors, new handbrake shoes, and renovated reducing valves
4 new brake pads
New master cylinder

Suspension:
New bushings and new front and rear dampers
Renovated wheels with 4 new tires

Interior:
Instrument cluster refurbished with new gauges
All meters renovated
New leather front seats, carpets, side panels, and trunk interior
Fuel system completely restored with new hoses and tank
Renovated Bosch fuel pump
New seals and sensors (for both fuel and temperature)

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

There are no remarks or issues to mention. The car starts immediately with a smooth-running engine, and the gearbox feels sharp and direct, as do the brakes. The overdrive functions perfectly. The engine bay is neat and tidy, and the boot space is well organized, complete with a full toolkit and a matching spare wheel. All other clover wheels are in top condition and have newer tires.

  • Interior condition:

Interior is tidy and well-maintained, with the front seats reupholstered in leather. Both the front and rear seats are in excellent condition. All gauges and instrumentation have been repaired or replaced, ensuring everything works properly. The door cards, headliner, carpets, and dashboard panel are all in good condition, with the only note being that the top edge of the driver’s door panel has been repaired (see photo). In the boot, there are some small boxes of extra parts and a rubber cover for the lower wings that have not been fitted, as it was decided the car looks better without them. An extra switch is installed in the center console but is not connected to anything.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is as expected—straight, with no damage or rust, and the body panels fit well throughout. The underbody is clean and tidy. The paintwork has a bright finish, with only a minor paint defect on the edge panel near the boot lid (see picture). The chrome work and detailing are also bright and free of issues.

  • General condition:

This is a wonderful-looking car that attracts a lot of attention. Renovating these cars can be expensive, making it easier and more cost-effective to buy one that has already been restored. This way, you can save time and money and enjoy the car right away, ensuring many happy years of motoring ahead.
