"BMW's luxurious sedan, here in a very beautiful color combination. In addition, the car has a manual gearbox and is equipped with a sunroof, making it a wonderfully enjoyable hobby car."

Description

In its day, the BMW 3.0 challenged luxury cars such as the Mercedes S-Class and Jaguar XJ6. And that very much holds true today for those who appreciate classic cars in the luxury segment.

The first owner was Torsten Blom, a successful furniture dealer in Piteå. He was also a true BMW enthusiast. Perhaps that is why he chose a BMW 3.0 with a manual gearbox, which gives this luxurious car a sporty character.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine starts easily and runs very smoothly and evenly at idle. The brakes, steering, clutch, and gearbox all function flawlessly. The same applies to the gauges and controls.

A neat and tidy engine bay with no obvious signs of leakage.

The car, which is equipped with a tow hitch, was taken of the road from 1993 to 2020. It has since received a recommissioning service by the owner, who took over the car in 2023.

The car passed its vehicle inspection on December 1, 2025.

  • Interior condition

The seats have been professionally reupholstered in soft beige leather and present in very fresh condition. This gives the car a welcoming atmosphere and matches the newly repainted body.

Panels, door cards, carpets, instruments, and controls are in good condition. The floor carpet would benefit from a professional cleaning to further enhance the overall impression of the interior.

  • Exterior condition

The car has been repainted in its original color. The paintwork was carried out by professionals and makes a very good impression.

The BMW's body panels are straight and clean. According to the owner, the car was virtually rust-free when it was repainted in 2025.

The future owner may wish to restore the body emblems and polish some of the brightwork. These are relatively simple measures that would further enhance the overall impression.

  • General condition

A BMW 3.0 Si in very nice condition, with new paintwork and reupholstered seats.

The car makes a fresh impression today, but at the same time there is potential for a new owner to further enhance the overall impression with modest effort.

The odometer reads 55,330 km, but the odometer rolls over at 100,000 km, so the car has most likely covered 155,330 km.

Facts about the model

The BMW 3.0 is part of the model series with BMW's internal code E3. It was a series of luxury cars that combined high comfort with sporty driving characteristics, something many of BMW's customers still associate with the brand to this day.

The E3 series was introduced in 1968 and would be produced until 1977, when it was replaced by the BMW 7 Series. Initially, the E3 series had engines of either 2.5 liters or 2.8 liters, with the model designations BMW 2500 and BMW 2800 respectively.

In 1971, the larger 3.0-liter engine arrived and the models were renamed BMW 3.0 S and 3.0 Si. The same engines also found their way into BMW's coupe models. The M30 engine, as it is known, is an inline 6-cylinder engine famous for its silky-smooth running character.

The 3.0 Si is equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic. This is an electronic fuel injection system that raised the output to 200 hp and made the 3.0 Si one of the world's fastest four-door cars at the time.

When the E3 series was introduced in 1968, it marked BMW's permanent return to the luxury car segment. Not since 1963 had BMW offered a luxury car in its model lineup. Back then it was the so-called Baroque Angel (BMW 501 and 502), which sold in relatively modest volumes. But with the E3 series, BMW established itself once and for all as a manufacturer of world-class premium cars.
