"A fine and pleasant Audi from the era when their model 100 was a sought-after car in the Volvo+ segment. Here in the updated version with the fine 2.3 E engine. A well-preserved low-mileage example that needs some attention again after 10 years in storage. A service and reconditioning will do it good, both in terms of function and condition."

Description

This car was first registered for road use on November 23, 1990. It was bought new by its sole user, who drove it sparingly up until the most recent inspection in 2016, at which point the odometer read 53,540 km. In February 2018, it was transferred to his wife, who did not hold a driver's license, and the car was therefore laid up. It is now being sold through the daughter. It has been started and driven ahead of the sale, with a low odometer reading of 53,580 km. Over the years, the car was stored in a garage when not in use, but more recently it has been kept outside.

The car comes with its owner's manual and a completed service booklet (the 50,000 km service was carried out in February 2002), as well as various inspection records and literature. Two sets of keys.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Starts easily and a service has been carried out after a long period of standstill, but the idle is somewhat uneven. No problems when driving. During a short test drive, the clutch, gearbox, and brakes were perceived to work well, but the steering/steering wheel/handling had an imbalance at the front. It may be the tires, but this needs to be examined more closely. Not checked on a lift, but what could be seen looked good, and there have previously been no remarks at the vehicle inspections.

  • Interior condition

Fine and well-preserved plush upholstery with good comfort. Door panels, trim panels, and textile carpets are in fine condition, with rubber protective mats. The headliner is in good condition but sags slightly. Steering wheel, controls, and dashboard with wood details in fine, well-preserved original condition. The car is equipped with an ECC system. It and the other electrical functions appear to work well. The ECC system may, after many years, need servicing. Period-correct Blaupunkt Granada cassette stereo works. The trunk is in fine condition and has the original spare wheel on an aluminum wheel.

  • Exterior condition

Fine, as it appears, with original paint that will become even better after reconditioning. Glass, chrome, trim, emblems, and lighting details in the same condition. Winter wheels with worn tires are currently fitted. The original aluminum wheels come with the car, but they have aged tires. The engine compartment is in original condition, the gas struts need to be replaced.

  • General condition

Overall, this is a car that retains much of the feel from the time it was delivered. Granted, it has 36 years behind it and there are details that could be attended to, but very few remain in this condition. A car that has now stepped into the classic and enthusiast category.

Facts about the model

The Audi 100 was launched in 1967 and was produced in four different generations (C1, C2, C3, and C4) until 1994, when it was replaced by the Audi A6.

This car is a C3, produced between 1982 and 1991. It was available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, as well as with four- or five-cylinder gasoline engines producing 90-165 hp, plus a five-cylinder diesel engine.

For the 1988 model year, a new engine was introduced, the 2.3 E, with five cylinders and 136 hp. The C3 model also had a low drag coefficient, between 0.2 and 0.33 depending on the version. In 1988, the model underwent a light facelift, -88B, featuring among other things a curved dashboard and flush door handles.

Reportedly, 1,078,443 examples of the C3 generation were produced.
