Description
The Opel GT was built in its first series from 1968 to 1973. The car's styling originated as a design study in 1965 and was strongly inspired by the Chevrolet Corvette model being developed at the same time (1967). Approximately 100,000 examples were built, and today it is regarded as one of Opel's most beautiful models ever. It is a rare car today, and it truly attracts attention whenever it appears.
This car was imported from the USA in 1991 and ended up after only a few months at a car dealership in Östersund, where an employee bought the car and gave it to his teenage son. The son has remained the registered owner for 35 years since then and has restored the vehicle from the ground up – we are talking down to nut-and-bolt level.
The car was fully stripped and taken down to bare metal before being repainted inside and out in the original color Opel Flame Red, which was the orange shade for the American market.
Everything in the chassis has been restored or replaced with new parts, such as the brakes and shock absorbers, see photos. The entire interior is new, except for the door panels which have been freshened up, and the car today offers a true new-car feel.
The original engine is the same 1900 engine fitted in several Opel models, such as the Rallye Kadett and several other Opel Rekord models. It has been rebuilt and has since been fitted with hydraulic valve lifters and a slightly hotter camshaft.
The car was inspected after the restoration in the summer of 2025 and has since been driven approximately 30 km.

Mechanical condition
The car starts easily and the engine feels lively. It runs nicely and steadily on the road. There are no technical remarks at all, except that the fuel gauge is not working.

Interior condition
Very well-crafted interior, floor and roof entirely without remarks. The dashboard is in fine condition and the seats are in top condition. There is no wear or other remarks on the interior.

Exterior condition
Very professionally repainted in the original color. It is just as fine underneath and in the fender wells as on the outside. The bumpers are new and the chrome is in perfect condition. The only very minor remark is that the chrome on the gas cap is slightly pitted and that the chrome around the parking lights is not completely bright.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
