"A nice renovation overall and in the engine and drivetrain. Homogeneous and stable feeling, in the driving experience."

Description

This car was sold in California and returned to Sweden after 26 years. The car has been renovated and rebuilt to an enthusiastic standard. First, the car was renovated in 2016-2017 to new condition, (from a completely clean glass-blasted body, where everything that can be changed has been replaced with new or newly manufactured parts in the original design). The owner wanted modern sports car performance when the car was finished. This was done in 2017-2018, with a new specially built B20 engine of 2.4 litres and 240hp (registered as such, see picture on specification) and a new five-speed box, diff rear axle, reinforced brakes and chassis (receipts from the renovation of more than one million Swedish kroner comes with the car). For example, the engine has a degree of tuning that in its time would belong on a race track or in the rally forest in an Amazon or 140. The renovation is professionally carried out by the workshop at HRM car in Lidköping without, as I said, saving on costs. The result is one of the absolute finest, fastest, registered and approved 1800 ES in original appearance. The sound of the intake as the car comes towards you and the engine sings in the higher notes is a bit reminiscent of high-revving racing machines from the Super Touring era of racing. When that sound also harmonizes with a classically beautiful body shape, it becomes clear that this car has just that extra bit of everything. More information about the renovation can be found at the bottom of the description.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The engine specification is on a charming handwritten piece of paper (pictured) from a very knowledgeable engine builder, well-known among enthusiasts. Here you can read and let yourself be intoxicated by material, function and definitions. The transmission itself is a five-speed box M47 and further back there is a Sellholm diff.

  • Interior condition:

Newly manufactured or NOS off the shelf; the leather is soft and supple, and the carpets are new. A period-typical Nardi steering wheel underlines the car's ambition together with the leather straps that would hold an exclusive suitcase set in place in the trunk.

  • Exterior condition:

Beautiful exterior in a popular colour. Chrome, paint and details; everything is new and processed. The driver's door lock may need an adjustment for smoother door closing.

  • General condition:

A beautiful, popular Swedish sports car. A Volvo in a charming Light Blue metallic 111 colour. It is an iconic sports car from the Volvo cars with an exciting design. This example represents in every way all the fine things that an enthusiast could wish for in a "Fantastic Light Blue Metallic Volvo 1800 ES" genre.

Facts about the model

Säten klädes i svart skinn i originalutförande.
