"The car has been restored over a period of time and was completed this autumn. It runs excellently and makes a good impression both inside and out."

Description

The car was purchased this summer by the current owner. A good friend of his had started a restoration but became ill and could not complete the project. When bought, the car had been sanded down and was ready for painting, with all rust welding already done.

He disassembled the car and removed the windows, after which it was painted in its original colour. He then reassembled it and replaced the majority of the rubber seals with new ones. Furthermore, he went through the mechanical components and rebuilt the engine and electrical system. Afterwards, it passed inspection without any remarks and is now ready to drive.

Facts about the model

Saab originated from the team of engineers at the aircraft manufacturer in Linköping, led by Sixten Sason in the 1940s. The prototype of the Saab 92 (92001, the “Ur-Saab”) was shown to company management in Linköping on 4 June 1946, and series production began on 12 December 1949. Output: 25 hp at 3,800 rpm.

The Saab 96 was produced between 1960 and 1980. Before the V4 engine—originally from Ford—was introduced in the 96 in 1967, they were equipped with a three-cylinder two-stroke engine.
