Description

Director Wallin’s BMW 750iA -1989

In the late 1980s, business was booming for Director Wallin from Västerås. As a building contractor and property owner, it was important to have a car that matched his success. His choice fell on a top-of-the-line Diamond Black BMW 750iA. The car was purchased new from Aros Auto in Västerås, the city’s local BMW dealership.

Almost every option box was ticked — including the rare light leather Sport interior, dual electric seats, premium sound system, 25% limited-slip differential, and ski bag for trips to the mountain cabin. Electric sunroof, climate control, and the stylish cross-spoke wheels with TRX tires, among many other features, completed the package.

Wallin kept his black BMW for just over six years, trading it in at a BMW dealer in 1995. We can only guess, but perhaps it was swapped for a new E38? The 750i, showing just over 100,000 km on the odometer, later found its way through a few dealers to Mr. Wöhrlén in Askersund the same year.

Mr. Wöhrlén cherished the car until his passing in 2025. During his ownership, the BMW was only driven on sunny days for pleasure trips, and it accumulated very few additional kilometers before being stored in his home garage. The last inspection was recorded in 2001. Since then, the car has been stationary but occasionally started.

The car has now been brought out of hibernation. A startup service has been performed — new oil and filter, fresh fuel, new fuel pumps and fuel filter. The engine now runs very smoothly and evenly. It has a complete service history up to 2001 when it was taken off the road. A new inspection will be required before it can be driven again.

Complete documentation is included, along with the original spare wheel and BMW tool kit. The car is equipped with the Shadowline package and M Sport package. It has not been inspected by us on a lift, but according to the current seller, it is in excellent condition. The present owner purchased the vehicle from an estate and has brought it back to life after more than 20 years in warm garage storage.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Excellent technical condition – all functions are in working order except for a few minor issues to address before inspection. The low brake pressure warning light is on, although the brakes function perfectly and the ABS light is not illuminated. A diagnostic check is recommended; it is quite likely that a sensor or similar component is at fault.

The climate control (ACC) is not functioning and has not been converted to the updated system. A tire replacement may also be advisable — the car is fitted with quality Michelin tires that have good tread but are aged.

    Three keys included.

  • Interior condition:

Excellent interior condition. Minor wear on the driver’s seat backrest — a leather conditioning and possibly some color restoration at the worn spot would further enhance the overall impression. Beige floor mats are present in three positions, though not on the driver’s side. A set of nice blue floor mats is currently fitted in the car.
As a period-correct detail, an original Ericsson mobile phone remains installed. The onboard computer display has a minor pixel fault. The high-end “Exclusive” stereo system is fitted. The adjustments for the electric seats, the sunroof, and the rear headrests’ electric adjustment all function without any issues.

  • Exterior condition:

Very nice and glossy paintwork. Minor signs of use with a few touch-ups — visible on the right rear door and the trunk lid. A few additional small scratches and minor dents can also be seen. The left front high beam lens has a small stone chip at the lower edge. There is also a minor crack in the door trim by the driver’s door.

  • General condition:

A very refined and elegant overall impression. The car glides almost silently along the road — but when you press the throttle, it awakens from its Sleeping Beauty slumber and the acceleration is brutal. The song of the silky-smooth V12 is pure music to the ears of any seasoned BMW enthusiast.

Facts about the model

The BMW 750iA from 1989 is one of the most iconic and luxurious models ever produced by the German automaker BMW.
Introduced in 1987 as part of the third generation of the 7 Series (E32), it represented a major leap forward in both technological innovation and luxury.

The 750iA was powered by a 5.0-liter V12 engine, making it one of the most powerful cars in its class at the time. The engine produced around 300 horsepower and was paired with an automatic transmission.

It was among the first cars to offer advanced features such as electronic stability control, a high-end sound system, and automatic climate control.

The exterior design is characterized by elegant, streamlined lines, a prominent front grille, and a refined silhouette that accentuates the car’s luxurious nature.

Inside, the 750iA offered an exceptional level of comfort and opulence, featuring premium materials and a well-appointed cabin. The seats were ergonomically designed, and the spacious interior provided generous comfort for both driver and passengers.

Despite its size, the 750iA was renowned for its impressive driving dynamics and stability, making it a popular choice among executives and individuals who valued both comfort and performance.

The 7 Series has continued to be a cornerstone of BMW’s lineup, and many of the technological innovations introduced in the 750iA have influenced later models and generations.

The 1989 BMW 750iA stands as a true symbol of luxury and engineering excellence — combining powerful performance with outstanding comfort and advanced technology, it remains a timeless classic in BMW’s history.
