"A skillfully executed restoration and rebuild that has held up very well over the years. The car runs excellently but requires some getting used to when shifting gears."

Description

This car was fully restored and rebuilt into a show and camping bus with great skill 15 years ago and has remained in excellent condition over the years.

The goal of the restoration was to create a high-class custom show and excursion bus with a personal touch. Therefore, strict adherence to the original design was not a priority. Reportedly, a donor vehicle, a bus from 1970 sourced from Brazil, was used for the project. For this reason, the body, chassis, and engine details differ from those of a European original. The red and white paintwork also deviates from the original colors but complements the interior well, which was the intention.

The current owner purchased the bus in 2016 and has driven it sparingly during the summers. He has showcased it at a few events and, among other achievements, won the People’s Choice award from thousands of vehicles at the Nostalgia Festival in Ronneby.

Today, the 23-window model from 1964 is one of the most sought-after vehicles in Volkswagen’s classic lineup. These buses, both in original condition and custom-built, can fetch high prices at auctions if they are in good condition. Well-restored originals, as well as custom builds like this one, can sell for around $100,000. There is a strong enthusiast market for them, both for roadworthy vehicles and those showcased exclusively at vintage car exhibition

  • Interior condition:

Skillfully refurbished interior in very good condition. Professionally built camping interior in a practical and appealing design.

  • Exterior condition:

Professionally painted bodywork with no damage or rust, looks very nice. The sunroof is intact and easy to open/close. A delightful detail is the opening front windows. Nice tires on painted original rims.

  • General condition:

A fantastic bus with numerous possibilities, ready for delightful camping by the sea and the opportunity to surf on the included board. A wonderful vehicle that attracts a lot of attention.
