"Exceptionally fine original car that runs perfectly and makes an excellent impression both inside and out."

Description

Conny Warnheim from Fjälkinge was a devoted motor enthusiast with a passion for both two and four wheels. He travelled all over the world to watch races, including Formula 1, Goodwood, and various rally events.
He was also actively involved in organising several rally competitions. In his younger years, he even competed in speedway. Sadly, he passed away this summer, and now his cherished vehicles are being offered for sale.
This VW Cabriolet was collected new by him from Sven Jeppssons in Karlshamn in June 1971.
A fun bit of trivia is the thank-you letter written to Conny by the company’s CEO — see photos. From day one, he took meticulous care of the car, only servicing it and replacing necessary mechanical components.
Otherwise, the car remains completely original and in fantastic condition. It has only been used during the summer months, including holiday trips — among them a journey to Turkey in 1973, where he was escorted by the military through an area known for pirates.

The car runs perfectly and everything works flawlessly, though it takes a little getting used to when finding the correct gear position. The meticulous owner has continuously serviced and cared for the car throughout the years.

  • Interior condition:

Original interior in very good condition with signs of careful use. A windstop is included with the car.

  • Exterior condition:

Very nice paint and chrome with nothing to remark on. Good tires on original wheels, which have a few small surface rust spots. The soft top is intact and in good condition, with a top cover that has become slightly sun-faded.

  • General condition:

A wonderful original car to preserve in this beautiful, authentic condition.

Facts about the model

The 1302 was truly an exciting model when it was introduced in the autumn of 1970. With MacPherson suspension and front disc brakes, as well as an independent rear axle, it represented the top of the Volkswagen range. It was also the last model with the flat windshield before the 1303 arrived in 1973. Since it combined the Beetle’s more modern technology with some of the older styling elements — particularly the windshield and dashboard — the 1302 has become increasingly sought after. It’s truly a delightful blend of classic and modern features.
