"A very fine and cool Mini from the second-to-last model year, finished in the color Mulberry Red."

Description

The first actual owner bought the car — a so-called Mini 40, an anniversary edition — from the dealership Novation AB in Uppsala in the year 2000. The model was created to celebrate Mini’s 40-year history. Only 16 examples of this model were imported to Sweden, and it’s rare to see one on the road today.

At the time of purchase, the car had only covered about 40 km, having been used as a loaner vehicle for a church in Sunnersta. The first owner drove it approximately 6,000 km over 23 years — a low figure explained by the fact that the car was stored unused in a heated garage for about twenty of those years. One of the first things he did after buying the Mini was to have it professionally rust-proofed by Tuff-Cote Dinol. He also equipped the car with adjustable lower control arms and caster rods at the front, while the rear suspension was made adjustable as well. The original front and rear suspension parts are included separately, should the next owner wish to restore it to factory specification.

The Mini was sold to the current owner in 2023, as it was merely sitting unused like a museum piece in a private garage with very limited access. The current owner has driven it sparingly — about 1,000 km over the two years he’s owned it — feeling that the car is too pristine and low-mileage to use regularly.

Today, the Mini has 7,009 km on the odometer and has passed inspection, ready to be enjoyed by anyone who wants to travel back in time in a Mini that both looks and smells like new.

Included with the car are two sets of keys, the owner’s manual, and the service book. The first and only service was carried out at around 1,000 km, as recorded in the book. The Mini also received fresh oil and a new filter when the current owner took possession of it.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Runs well in both engine and gearbox — just as a new car should. All other systems and equipment on the Mini also function as they should.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in excellent and pristine condition. It smells of leather and new car scent when you sit inside. There’s nothing to fault.

  • Exterior condition:

The original paint is in excellent condition, showing hardly any signs of use — except for a small scratch on the right front fender that was already there when the car was new in the showroom (see photo). The underbody treatment still looks fresh, as the car has barely been used. The chrome and glass are also in like-new condition.

  • General condition:

A Mini in as close to brand-new condition as you can get. It looks, smells, and feels like new — perfect for someone who wants an old, yet still new, Mini.

Facts about the model

The Rover Mini was offered in a range of “Limited Edition” versions depending on model year and market.
The Mini 40 from 1999 was the final anniversary edition.

A total of 800 Mini 40s were produced — half of them destined for Japan and the UK, with the rest exported elsewhere. It was available in several colors, though Mulberry Red was the most common in Sweden. The car featured red leather upholstery, an aluminum-finish dashboard, and special gauges that distinguished the Mini 40 from other versions. The “Mini 40” decals were not fitted on export cars but were available as an optional accessory.
