"With its bold and distinctive design, the Rolls-Royce Camargue was a daring move for the brand. Hand-built between 1975 and 1986, with only about one produced per week, it was the world's most expensive car of its time. A true collector’s piece, it turns heads wherever it goes."

Description

This Rolls-Royce Camargue has been family-owned in Sweden since 1989 and is part of the owner's Rolls-Royce collection. Originally sold new by premier UK dealer Stratton in Manchester to Mr. Kennedy from Portrush, Northern Ireland, it was later purchased by the father in law in 1989. The car was collected in Manchester and driven home to Gothenburg.

Its first Rolls-Royce Euro Rally was in Denmark in 1990, held in Vejle. During the stay at Munkebjerg Hotel and Casino, the car won a special prize—a weekend stay with meals and accommodation, on the condition it returned the following year. True to the promise, the car made its way back, and another wonderful stay followed.

Over the years, it has participated in numerous rallies across Sweden and Europe. Despite its rarity, it has been the most understated Rolls-Royce in the collection, often mistaken for an American car due to its bold design.

The car has been serviced over the years by specialist Rolls-Royce dealer Bengt Hansen in Denmark, with the last service in 2024 costing 23,527 DKK. It passed its final inspection in 2024 without remarks and is now permanently inspection-exempt.

It comes with a comprehensive history file, including detailed records, invoices, and documentation that fully support its ownership history and mileage.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts instantly with a smooth, strong-running engine. The automatic gearbox shifts well, the brakes are solid, and the ride is comfortable. It hasn't been driven much in recent years, but these cars improve with use. No warning lights are showing, and it sits on nice wheels with good tires. Serviced last year and permanently inspection-exempt. The AC compressor's electrical connection is currently disconnected and will need to be inspected, with a possible rebuild required.

  • Interior condition:

Interior still carries that classic English leather smell and remains well-preserved and clean throughout. The leather seats are in great condition, with tidy wool carpets and headliner, and a clean, functional dashboard and gauges. The passenger seat adjustment doesn’t work in all positions, but the driver’s seat operates fine, as do the electric windows. The radio and 8-track stereo are fully functional. The only noticeable flaw is a small mark on the driver’s door card, likely from an old cigarette burn.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is in remarkable condition for nearly 50 years old, with no rust issues and straight panels. The only notable flaws are a small dent on the front edge of the driver’s door and a 3 cm bubble on the rear wing edge (see pictures). The underbody is clean and tidy with no visible rust problems. The paintwork maintains a bright, fine finish, with just a few small chips on the driver’s door edge and minor stone chips around the lights.

  • General condition:

This car has been cherished and well-maintained in the owner’s Rolls-Royce collection for many years. After inheriting the collection, the son-in-law now lacks the time to care for it, making this a rare opportunity to own a piece of iconic motoring history.
