Description

AMC Javelin 1968 – Unique Trans-Am Racer with FIA HTP. The only existing Javelin with valid FIA HTP papers A rare and iconic AMC Javelin Trans-Am racer featuring a 5.0-liter V8 and T10 gearbox. Built from a Javelin street car as a tribute to the legendary Donohue/Penske Trans-Am winner. Comes with valid FIA HTP unitl 2032, and also road-registered. Eligible for a wide range of historic race, rally, and road events worldwide.

Description
The AMC Javelin is an American front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-door hardtop, produced by American Motors Corporation (AMC) across two generations (1968-1970 and 1971-1974).

Racing versions of the Javelin saw great success in the Trans-Am Series with the Penske Racing/Mark Donohue team, securing championship titles in 1971, 1972, and 1976. Drivers such as George Follmer and Mark Donohue helped cement its legacy in motorsport history.

This particular Javelin was originally purchased in the USA as a standard street car by the current owner in 2011 and imported to Sweden. After years of road use, a full rebuild project was undertaken to transform it into an authentic Javelin Trans-Am racer, closely following the period-correct specifications of Mark Donohue's original race car.

The multi-year rebuild was carried out by top Swedish specialists:
Zetterman Engineering (bodywork)
Lars Palmkvist (engine)
TS Motorsport (chassis & drivetrain)

Every detail was carefully executed to ensure the car met FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) requirements, allowing it to compete in historic motorsport. The FIA HTP application was finalized and approved in late 2021, making this the only Javelin Trans-Am racer in the world with current FIA HTP documentation, valid until 2032. A spare set of lightly used 4x Avon dry racing tires is also included.

Eligibility
This unique AMC Javelin Trans-Am racer is eligible for:
Peter Auto's HTC
The Dutch Fast Seventies
Australian ATCC
SCCA & SVRA USA
FHR's HTGT & HEC

And many other historic racing and rally events worldwide.
A striking and rare piece of racing history, ready for competition or road events.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Simple to start once familiar with the startup routine, and after a few minutes of warming up, it's ready to hit the road. It drives exceptionally well, with solid road handling once the tires are warm. Not an overly complicated car to drive, and the previous owner has enjoyed many track days, often leaving Porsches and Lamborghinis in the rearview mirror.

  • Interior condition:

Fully race-prepped interior featuring a Sparco seat, racing harnesses, a roll cage, and digital gauges. Everything feels professionally built and well-executed, ensuring a high-quality and track-ready setup.

  • Exterior condition:

The car's original paint was purple but was repainted approximately 10 years ago in the iconic Penske Racing colors—red, white, and blue. The Gremlin in the same auction shares this color scheme. The bodywork is solid and free from damage, while the paint has a nice finish with no battle scars.

  • General condition:

It’s truly unique in every aspect and fully race-prepared, ready to hit the track. Since it has a regular registration number, you can properly insure it. A perfect car to kickstart your future racing career.
