"Professionally partially restored with many new parts. Repainted 10 years ago and still looks just as good today."

Description

The car was purchased by a Swedish Volvo enthusiast in the spring of 2012 in Pasadena, California. It had been parked and stored for over 15 years. The car was drivable and completely rust-free but sun-bleached with clear coat peeling. The seats and rubber details were also dry and faded. In Sweden, it was test-driven a few times before the owner decided to repaint it (since it was in such good condition otherwise). The car was disassembled with the help of a retired vehicle instructor and professionally painted by Ämteruds Lack in Charlottenberg. The car then sat for a few years before the vehicle instructor took over the project, reassembled, and registered the car. The seats were reupholstered, brakes and bushings replaced, the gearbox with overdrive was renovated. All trims, mats, tires, and lighting were replaced. The engine was checked and serviced. Since then, the car has been used as a summer car for two years and has worked fine. The odometer now reads 179,000 miles. After the first inspection, the original odometer stopped working at 106,500 miles and was replaced with the current one. The original mileage corresponds to 178,000 kilometers. The owner estimates that the car has covered these approximately 180,000 kilometers based on its condition before the renovation and the state of the parts that were not renovated.

Facts about the model

The 1800E was the final generation in the model series that began with the P1800 in 1961. The car was originally designed by the famous boat designer Pelle Petterson. The E model, featuring the B20 fuel injection engine with Bosch D-Jetronic, a new camshaft, and larger intake valves, was introduced after the summer of 1969 and was manufactured until June 22, 1972. However, the estate version, the ES, which was introduced a few months earlier, continued to be built until 1973. A large portion of the E models were sold in the USA, but in recent years, many have found their way back to their homeland.
