Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and runs smoothly in the engine and drivetrain. Test-driven at a leisurely pace in local traffic and on country roads, providing stable and comfortable travel with American comfort. Steering, shifting, and brakes work well. Not inspected on a lift, but all vital parts appear to be in good condition. No additional rust protection other than the original, which gives it an "honest" appearance, although there are some superficial signs of rust underneath.

  • Interior condition:

Original interior in nicely maintained condition with fine door panels, headliner, carpets, and details. There are a couple of small cracks in the armrests on the front doors and a dent in the headliner. Instruments, steering wheel, and gauges are likewise in good condition, but the AC function needs to be checked.

  • Exterior condition:

Seems to have original paintwork, which is in good condition. Some stone chips, scratches, and door dings. Glossy, glass, plastic, and rubber details are also in good condition. Wheels with nice hubcaps and new Galaxy tires. Engine and trunk compartments are in good condition.

  • General condition:

There's something extra special about a Cadillac, an American premium car with history and aura. We have big and impressive cars in mind, especially when it comes to the post-war "grins" with chrome, fins, and big engines. Even when they downsized during the 80s but maintained classic American styling and equipment levels, they remained interesting and fine cars for a large crowd of eager enthusiasts. If they are also in fine original condition like this car, they are definitely coveted and interesting classics.

Facts about the model

Cadillac, established in 1903 and named after the French explorer Laumet de La Mothe sieur de Cadillac, who founded Fort Detroit in 1701. The company was founded by Henry M. Leland and Henry Ford, both of whom would become prominent figures in the American automotive industry. As early as 1909, Cadillac became part of General Motors. Over the years, they established themselves with everything from taxis to premium cars, where quality and luxury were paramount. Many competitors faced challenges during the 1920s and 1930s, but Cadillac fared relatively well. After the war, they quickly resumed production and continued on the path of producing premium cars. For the 1949 model year, an equipped version of the Series 62 model was launched, called the Sedan and Coupe de Ville. It also became Cadillac's first so-called HardTop. As a separate model, it was launched for the 1959 model year, and the first generation also included the 1960 model year. Then followed several generations until the eighth generation, which was built until the 2005 model year.

The sixth generation was built from 1985 to 1993. As before, the model was available as a four-door Sedan and a two-door Coupe. The platform was called C-body. Engines included transversely mounted V8s ranging from 4.1 to 4.9 liters, as well as a V6 Diesel and front-wheel drive. Shifting was handled by a four-speed automatic transmission. In the first years, 1985-88, the cars were barely five meters long, but for the remaining years, they were over five meters. The design followed the somewhat boxy look of the time, reminiscent of models like the Volvo 740/760. The C-body represented a "downsizing" for Cadillac and an approach to European cars in the premium segment. The 1988 model year was the last of the first version of the sixth generation before a facelift. Under the hood was a 4.5-liter V8 producing 155 horsepower. Otherwise, the model year was fully equipped even from "standard," and despite being more restrained in size than before, it was a success for Cadillac.
