"Here, a fantastically well-preserved cosmetic condition is matched by equally fine and precise mechanical performance."

Description

Sold new in 1972 to a lady in Södertälje, who chose the relatively unusual color combination but opted not to equip the car with a radio.

A very well-documented car — a thick binder of records and documentation accompanies the vehicle. It underwent a restoration in 2002 and was sold fully restored to the current owner. Since then, it has essentially remained in the same outstanding condition.

The current owners spend most of the year abroad, during which time the car has been carefully looked after and started regularly by a trusted acquaintance. It has always been stored in a heated garage.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

At some point, the car received a replacement 1600 cc engine, which is by no means a disadvantage. It starts easily and runs exceptionally well, with a smooth idle and refined sound insulation. The gears engage effortlessly without any issues. On the road, the car feels composed and very solid, with no unwanted noises anywhere.

The only noted issue is that one of the rear side windows cannot be wound all the way down.

The engine bay is tidy overall, aside from some minor oil residue, and otherwise everything is correctly in place. An electric fuel pump has also been retrofitted.

  • Interior condition

The interior maintains an exceptionally high standard throughout. The first thing you notice is the seat covers, which have been in place almost since the restoration. They are genuine sheepskin covers imported from Australia. Beneath them, the original upholstery remains in near-new condition, with no signs of wear or cracked edges.

The carpets, door panels, steering wheel, and dashboard are equally well preserved, and even the painted interior surfaces are flawless. If one were to be particularly critical, the turn signal stalk does not quite match the finish of the rest of the cabin, but overall the interior deserves top marks.

  • Exterior condition

The color is called Leuchtorange and is among the rarer shades offered in the model range. The paintwork is in excellent condition and is virtually free from damage. The chrome, bumpers, and bright trim pieces all maintain the same high standard of finish.

A few small dents are visible on one hubcap, but aside from that, they too are in outstanding condition. Some of the rubber seals are beginning to dry slightly, most noticeably around the windshield seal. The convertible top and its rear window are in top condition and fit exceptionally well.

It is difficult to determine exactly how much was replaced or restored during the renovation, but everything appears fresh and well-finished throughout the body panels, floors, trunk, spare wheel compartment, and related areas. There are no visible traces of old repairs or patchwork. The wheel arches and fenders are particularly impressive and appear almost factory fresh. Either the restoration was carried out to a very high standard, or the car was never in poor condition to begin with.

  • General condition

If one takes the restoration as a starting point, it is remarkable that the car still remains in such outstanding condition after 24 years.
