"A nice and well-kept Saab with all the details in place. The right combination with the larger engine and manual gearbox. There are only minor signs of use, while the overall condition remains very well preserved."

Description

This car was originally registered as a company car by a business owner in Södermanland. He used the car sparingly in his business before later taking ownership of it privately in 2009. In 2013, the car changed hands again following the previous owner’s passing. The next owner continued to care for the car meticulously.

All servicing has been carried out exemplary by every owner, including the current owner, who has had the car for approximately three years. A number of minor improvements have been performed by a highly respected Saab enthusiast — a well-known figure in rally circles for many years.

The low mileage is well documented through numerous inspection reports and other supporting documentation. The car is ready to be driven immediately, although the particularly demanding buyer may notice several stone chips on the front end and hood.

In addition to the Linear Sport package, the car is equipped with black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable sport seats, an engine heater with cabin outlet, a rear spoiler, and front fog lights.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

As previously mentioned, all servicing and maintenance work has been carried out properly and on schedule. The engine and gearbox operate flawlessly, as do the brakes and all technical equipment. In other words, there is nothing to remark upon.

  • Interior condition

The interior is also very well maintained. The leather upholstery is in fine condition, although the driver’s seat shows a light patina consistent with careful use. The door panels, headliner, carpets, and dashboard are all in excellent condition.

  • Exterior condition

The paintwork retains a fine shine and overall presents well. There are, however, a fair number of stone chips on the hood and front bumper. Aside from this, the bodywork is free from dents or damage. The light assemblies and trim pieces are in good condition.

The windshield has a larger crack and should be replaced. There is also some corrosion bubbling around the side mirror mountings, which is more the rule than the exception on the 9-5 model.

The front tires are from 2019 and the rear tires from 2016, all with good tread depth remaining.

  • General condition

This Saab leaves a very solid overall impression. The low mileage is relatively unusual, as this model was commonly used as a company car and often covered long distances. The ride comfort is outstanding — just as one would expect from Saabs of this era.

Facts about the model

The Saab 9-5 was developed during the 1990s to replace the Saab 900 and 9000 models and to establish Saab in the competitive D-segment market, with a strong focus on safety, driver ergonomics, and turbocharged engines.

The first generation was introduced in 1998 as a sedan, later followed by the SportCombi estate version. Throughout the 2000s, the model received a number of continuous updates, including improved electronics, interior refinements, and revised engine management systems. The Aero versions offered more powerful engines along with a sportier chassis setup.

General Motors’ ownership of Saab influenced both technical solutions and the pace of investment, creating certain synergies while also imposing limitations. A more substantial facelift arrived during the mid-to-late 2000s, bringing a refreshed exterior design along with smaller updates to the interior.

The second-generation 9-5 was launched around 2010, but Saab’s financial collapse in 2011 ultimately shortened the model’s commercial lifespan.

Today, Saab models are highly sought after among enthusiasts and collectors alike. Values for many Saab models continue to rise as the availability of well-preserved examples steadily declines. Well-maintained, low-mileage cars are especially desirable.
