"Older renovation in good all-round condition. Easy to start, nippy to drive, and with no known issues. Ready to be enjoyed and inspection exempt forever."

Description

The 1968 Mini Pick-up is especially desirable among enthusiasts thanks to its classic early styling and unmistakable character. Originally built as a lightweight commercial vehicle, very few survived due to years of hard work and the well known rust issues these vehicles suffered from, making genuine surviving examples extremely rare today.
This Pick Up was imported and registered in Sweden in 2002, although no earlier history is known prior to this. It appears the car was renovated by its first Swedish owner and later inspected in 2010 once the work had been completed. In total, the vehicle has had four private owners and one company owner. The current owner purchased the car in 2022 and has mainly used it locally during the summer months. Being a Mini enthusiast himself and also owning another Mini, he now hopes to replace this one with a Mini Van, an even rarer model to find today.
The car is fitted with a 1098cc A Series engine, a very popular upgrade that makes the Mini far more enjoyable to drive compared to the original 850cc engine. As expected with these cars, the body has received welding repairs underneath during its lifetime, which is completely normal for a classic Mini.
Inside, the car has been fitted with newer, more comfortable seats along with Mini Lite alloy wheels. Included with the sale are the original wheels, two original seats, two canvas Pick Up covers, and the frame. Personally, we would refit the original wheels and seats to give the car an even more authentic appearance.
The car presents itself very well overall and runs and drives excellently. However, there are a few small rust blisters beginning to appear around the edge of the front A panel and a small area on the rear right wheel arch.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The upgraded 1100cc engine starts easily and runs well once warmed up slightly. No strange noises and the engine bay is clean and tidy. Nippy and fun to drive with simple gearshift, good handling, and solid brakes. Regularly serviced by the owners and fitted with alloy wheels and good usable tyres. Inspection exempt and ready to drive home.

  • Interior condition

Interior remains charmingly simple and spartan as originally intended, but has been refreshed over the years with newer door panels and trim around the dashboard. The door panels are slightly lifting in places. Fitted with the original steering wheel and speedometer, along with a working heater fan.
The seats are from a 1990s hatchback and are far more comfortable than the original items, although personally we feel the original seats would suit the car better. The original seats are in good condition overall with only a small rip on the driver’s seat (see pictures).

  • Exterior condition

The car presents itself very well, bodywork is straight with no dents or major damages. Small rust blisters starting to show mainly around the A frame panel area (see pictures), nothing serious and easily sorted over time. Underbody shows signs of older welding work and repairs, all very normal for these cars.
Paintwork has a nice clean finish and still shines nicely. A few small paint chips and marks dotted around from normal use, nothing that really stands out. Also has a clean and tidy pickup bed complete with an original spare petrol can.

  • General condition

Owning this car will attract loads of attention, hardly anyone sees another one on the road today as they almost totally disappeared by the late 1980s. It would make a perfect promotional vehicle for a local business or simply a fun classic to enjoy at shows and events. Ready to jump in, drive, and enjoy directly.
