"A pleasant car that has lived a quiet life and is in presentable condition. Most features appear to be in nice original condition and in good working order."

Description

This car was registered for road use on March 31, 2003. Over the years, it has reportedly been registered to the first owner's company, himself, and his family members.

The current owner—a vehicle technician and motor enthusiast—had previously purchased a Mercedes-Benz 190 from the first owner, who was a customer of his. He then acquired the Jaguar in June 2024.

Over the past 10 years, the car has covered just over 10,000 km, with the odometer now reading 134,420 km. The current owner serviced it approximately 5,000 km ago for the previous owner and has since driven it sparingly as both a practical and enthusiast car during good weather. It has been garage kept.

Recently, the brake discs and pads were replaced all around.

Included with the car are a set of stylish original wheels with good winter tires, though they are somewhat aged. The car hasn't been driven in winter for many years. Also included are the original Jaguar build sheet, original folder with owner’s manual and documents, as well as various receipts and inspection records. Two remote keys are included.

Recently inspected with no remarks and ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts easily and ran smoothly and quietly in both engine and drivetrain. During a short test drive in a suburban neighborhood, the car performed well, with proper function in steering, automatic transmission, handling, and brakes. A slight hissing sound was noted from the power steering, but it did not appear to affect functionality.

According to the owner, the transmission experiences a minor "converter surge" when cold.

The car was not inspected on a lift during the visit, but the visible parts appeared to be in good condition. The current owner has had it on a lift and confirmed that the underbody is in solid condition. No remarks from the vehicle inspection suggest otherwise.

  • Interior condition:

Pleasant and well-preserved original interior in classic British style, featuring black/grey leather and wood trim. Seats, door panels, dashboard, carpets, and headliner are all in good condition. The steering wheel controls, instrument panel, wood accents, and gauges are also well-kept.

All electrical functions are working properly.
The stereo is equipped with a Jagaux Bluetooth module integrated into the original system, which is also functional.
The A/C system needs inspection and a refill.

  • Exterior condition:

Nice and glossy, seemingly original paintwork. There are a few dents and marks on the trunk lid and one fender, reportedly caused by a heavy hailstorm. Some rust is present on the right rear suspension arm ("dog bone").

Glass, chrome, trim, emblems, and lighting components are all in good condition. The wheels are in great shape and fitted with good tires. Both the engine bay and trunk area are well-kept.

  • General condition:

A classic compact Jaguar with the refined feel of a traditional British gentleman's club. Its condition, history, and model make for a charming package—now transitioning from a practical daily driver to a classic and enthusiast vehicle.

Facts about the model

When the new Jaguar S-Type was introduced in the final year of the last millennium, it was indeed a nod to the original 1960s model bearing the same name—but in reality, it was a thoroughly modern and updated vehicle. It debuted at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1998.

The car featured traditional rear-wheel drive and a range of petrol engines, including inline-sixes from 2.1L to 3.0L, as well as 4.0L and 4.2L V8s, all with fuel injection. There was also a top-of-the-line R version with a 4.2L supercharged V8 producing 400 hp. In addition, a 2.7L diesel engine sourced from the French PSA group was offered. The 3.0L version delivered 276 hp.

A minor facelift was introduced in 2002, followed by a more significant update in 2004 featuring revised front and rear styling. The S-Type was eventually succeeded by the XF model starting in 2007.

In total, 291,386 units of the Jaguar S-Type were produced between model years 1999 and 2007.
