Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The car starts easily and ran reasonably well. During a short and gentle test drive in a residential area, the steering, automatic transmission, and brakes all functioned, although a thorough inspection and servicing would be required to ensure full reliability and proper operation.
The car has not been inspected on a lift, but what could be seen appeared acceptable. However, given the vehicle’s age and overall condition, unexpected issues may still arise. -
Interior condition
Original interior with torn upholstery on the seats and rear bench, along with general signs of wear from use. The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are in good condition overall, although some details and functions require attention. A new custom-fitted upholstery set for the seats and rear bench is included with the car.
-
Exterior condition
Repainted and in fair used condition. The vinyl roof is in good condition overall, although there is some wear around the lower edge of the rear window and in a few other areas. The glass, chrome trim, and lighting details are all in good condition.
The car is missing the chrome trim pieces around the wheel arches and sills that were originally fitted to this special model, as well as the two auxiliary driving lights. The windshield trim moldings are included with the car. The wheels and tires are worn, although the hubcaps are in decent condition.
The engine bay and luggage compartment show signs of wear and age. The trunk lid currently has to be opened with a screwdriver, as the lock is missing. -
General condition
This car should be viewed as a drivable restoration project. It is a special and therefore unusual version, yet well worth the opportunity to regain its former glory as an Opel offering extra comfort and understated 1970s luxury.

Facts about the model
The Rekord C, built from 1967 to 1971, became a major success and was especially known for its American-inspired “coke bottle” styling. The model earned a reputation for being robust, spacious, and comfortable, and was offered in numerous versions including two- and four-door sedans, the Caravan estate, and a popular pillarless Coupé — or “HT” as it was commonly referred to at the time.
Engine options included four-cylinder units ranging from 1.5 to 1.9 litres. At the top of the range was the 1900S engine producing 90 hp, considered quite powerful for its era.
In total, more than 1.2 million Rekord C models were produced.
