"Found as a garage discovery 25 years ago, this Harley-Davidson 350cc B model spent over two decades in storage before being re-registered and brought back to life in 2023. Since then, it’s been ridden locally and runs well, with lovely patina and vintage charm."

Description

The exact history of this bike is unclear, but it’s a 1926 Harley-Davidson Model B with a 350cc single-cylinder engine. The current owner, a longtime collector of vintage bikes, discovered it 25 years ago in a garage in Sandared near Borås. The family he bought it from said it had been off the road for at least 30 years and likely fell out of the registration system in the 1960s. It could be a Swedish-sold bike, though this hasn’t been confirmed.

The bike was complete but needed attention. After buying it in 2000, it spent another 22 years in the owner's collection until he decided to bring it back to life. In 2023, it was reviewed, made roadworthy, and successfully re-registered. Since then, it’s been ridden locally and enjoyed over the past two summers.

Wanting to preserve its originality, the owner focused on making it usable rather than fully restoring it. Key components like the fuel system, battery, ignition coil, brakes, and front tire were replaced. With its fantastic patina, vintage charm, and distinctive sound, it never fails to draw a crowd at local events.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Once you’ve learned the startup procedure, a few kicks are all it takes to bring the engine to life—and it sounds fantastic. The tank-mounted gearbox shifts smoothly, the brakes are stable, and it rides straight. It has a double fuel tank; only one side has been tested, so the condition of the other side is unknown and may potentially leak. The bike is ready to ride and should only require routine maintenance going forward. As a 1926 model, it’s inspection-exempt for life.

  • Interior condition

The seat features aged leather with beautiful patina and some loose stitching around the edges, adding to its vintage character.

  • Exterior condition

The bike now wears a black frame and mudguards paired with a blue fuel tank, though traces of its original beige and green paint suggest an earlier color scheme. The result is a charming, multicolored patina that reflects its long history. There’s an older dent on the tank and visible signs of previous welding and repairs around the engine—evidence of a life well lived.

  • General condition

Personally, I wouldn’t change a thing about its appearance—it’s wonderfully authentic. I’ve seen many fully restored examples that belong in museums, but this one can be enjoyed just as it is, with all its history and character intact.
