Description
In 2024, it found its way to the current owner — a classic car enthusiast with experience in bringing cars like this back to life. The recommissioning work has been carried out with care: the brakes have been overhauled, the fuel system gone through, and the engine serviced with new battery, ignition components, hoses, and fresh fluids throughout.
The car has now been gently brought back onto the road and driven around 100 km. After addressing minor issues noted at its first inspection (mainly lights and washer function), it has since passed and is now roadworthy with inspection valid until 2028-03-31.
As expected from an unrestored car, there are some areas of rust noted and visible in the photos — front left floor and outer frame sections — but these are repairable and part of the car’s honest story.
A charming, well-preserved example with a lovely history, now ready for its next chapter.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Easy to start, needing just a few minutes to warm through properly. Drives nicely with smooth column gear changes, and the freewheel functions as it should. Well balanced on the road with good brakes, coolant system needs flushing and petrol is gauge faulty. Fitted with correct steel wheels, hubcaps, and new tyres. Inspected until 2028-03-31 and road tax exempt.
-
Interior condition
Interior is in good, original condition. Seats are undamaged and complete with the pop-in headrest cushions. With some light reconditioning, it would present very well. Door cards are in good order with some age-related marks; the upper padding has degraded slightly with minor lifting of the vinyl. Carpets are tidy, and panels are in good condition. Dashboard and instrumentation are all original and in working order, including the radio cassette. Headliner is clean and well kept.
-
Exterior condition
The car presents well overall, but there is rust around the upper and lower rear wings — these areas would ideally benefit from replacement. There are also some rust blisters visible around the door frames, lower front wings, and a few spots in the boot; these are repairable.
Otherwise, the bodywork is straight with no dents. The underbody shows rust as previously noted (see photos), with the front sill sections and front floor requiring welding and repair. Despite this, the car has passed inspection.
The paint appears largely original and presents well with a clean, shiny finish, aside from the noted rust areas. -
General condition
These models are known to suffer from rust, but the car remains road legal with a wonderful history and low mileage. With the right knowledge and some welding work, the noted areas can be addressed.
