Description

This is a Swedish-sold car from new. The current owner acquired it 31 years ago, and her husband undertook a full restoration as a gift to her. The car had been stored for over 20 years and, although structurally sound, required a complete renovation. The project began around 2010 and was completed in 2017, with progress being steady but intentional. Great care was taken to source the correct parts, including numerous new old stock (NOS) components, and professional specialists were brought in to assist with the mechanical rebuild. The aim was to preserve originality while ensuring the car would be a highly reliable and enjoyable car for his wife—and that goal was fully achieved. Since the renovated, the car has served as her summer car and has been driven only about 100 km per year.

Major Mechanical Work:

Engine bored to first oversize, fitted with 1 Mahle piston
New engine bearings
New camshaft (K-cam)
New water pump and oil pump
New clutch
Cylinder head reconditioned and converted for unleaded fuel with hardened valve seats
Gearbox, overdrive, and rear axle renovated by Svis in Köping
New control arms, springs, dampers, and frame components
New tie rods
Brake calipers renovated and fitted with new discs
Fuel line and tank renovated
New fuel pump mounted by the tank
New vacuum regulator for fuel injection (mounted on right inner fender)
New intake manifolds (replaced prior to engine renovation)

Exterior and Interior Work:
New front wings – original Volvo
New front panel – original Volvo
New bonnet – original Volvo
New rear panel (lower and outer sections)
New front headlights
New front fog lights
New front bumper turn signals
New trim on doors and fender edges
New leather interior

The car has been routinely serviced and inspected by the owner every spring and has always been stored in a heated garage.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Starts immediately with a smooth and quiet-running engine. It’s a true pleasure to drive, offering sharp gear shifts, solid road handling, and a fully functioning overdrive—without any unwanted noises. The car is inspection-exempt forever and ready for the next owner to enjoy for many years to come. It comes fitted with attractive alloy wheels and good tires, along with a fully renovated set of original steel wheels included in the sale.

  • Interior condition:

interior is exceptionally clean and tidy, and is in near-perfect condition. The seats have been fully renovated in leather and still look like new. Carpets, door cards, headliner, and dashboard are all in excellent shape. All gauges and instruments function correctly. As a thoughtful upgrade, the owner has also installed original Volvo HT-164 tweeters and fitted an AUX cable with a discreet switch for connecting external devices.

  • Exterior condition:

Bodywork is undamaged, with straight panels, well-aligned panel gaps, and no visible rust issues—matching the solid condition of the underbody. The only notable remarks are an older repair on the inner sill behind the rear passenger-side door, which shows some signs of work, and a few minor blisters on the left rear panel near the roof (see photos).

The paintwork has a nice shine and finish, with only a few small stone chips and a slight blemish beneath the right rear chrome trim—these imperfections are barely noticeable unless closely inspected. The chrome all around is bright and clean, with some light oxidation marks, particularly on the bumpers.

  • General condition:

This is a truly eye-catching car with an extensive amount of high-quality, expensive work already completed. It’s a pleasure to drive and is sure to bring great satisfaction to its next owner. Nothing needs attention, making it ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.
