Description
In 1995, ownership changed when the wife took over the car following her husband’s passing. After that, it was no longer used for longer journeys but only for shorter trips in the Linköping area. The current owner purchased the car from the widow in 2016 and has cared for it meticulously ever since. A substantial amount of documentation accompanies the car, including numerous inspection records, service receipts, and invoices for replaced parts.
As the car has been mostly stationary in recent years, the owner chose to carry out a recommissioning service prior to the auction. This included cleaning the carburetor, changing the oil and filter, welding an exhaust joint, and a full check of the brakes. The car was subsequently inspected and approved in August 2024. It feels very solid to drive and remains in a pleasant, well-preserved original condition.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The engine and gearbox performed flawlessly during the test drive. The brakes, as well as all instruments and functions, worked as they should. However, the clock and stereo functionality are uncertain.
The tires are in good condition with plenty of tread, though they are approximately 10 years old, with no signs of dry cracking. One key is included, along with the original jack, toolkit, and spare wheel. Original roof racks are also included. -
Interior condition
A consistently pleasant interior condition throughout. Clean and intact seating surfaces in all positions. Fabric floor mats in all areas except the driver’s side. A new headliner has been installed recently.
-
Exterior condition
The paintwork has a very nice shine, and there is nothing to suggest the car has been resprayed. There are, however, a few things to note.
A rust spot developed on the left door several years ago, likely caused by a stone chip. The owner had the affected area blasted, primed, and repainted—only the small section, not the entire door. There is a dent at the rear of the right fender. In the rubber trim along the bottom of the driver’s door, a few minor rust spots can be seen.
The bumpers, lighting units, and glass surfaces are all free from damage. -
General condition
This is a very well-preserved example of a classic Saab model. The car feels and drives like a new car from its era.

Facts about the model
The Saab 99 is a car model produced by the Swedish manufacturer Saab between 1968 and 1984. Here are some key points from its history:
The Saab 99 was launched in 1968 as the successor to the Saab 96. It was one of the first cars designed by the renowned engineer and designer Sixten Sason.
The car was characterized by its distinctive design, including a long hood and a short rear end—an early example of a “fastback” shape.
The Saab 99 was offered with various engine options throughout its production and was known for its front-wheel-drive layout, which was relatively uncommon at the time.
It introduced several innovative features, including a turbocharged version released in 1978. The turbo model became especially popular and helped set the standard for future performance cars.
During its production run, the Saab 99 was available in two body styles: sedan and combi coupé.
Production ended in 1984, but the model has remained popular among enthusiasts and collectors.
The Saab 99 was succeeded by the Saab 900, which went on to become one of Saab’s most iconic models.
Today, the Saab 99 is considered a classic, with a loyal following of fans and collectors who appreciate its unique design and heritage.
