"A beautifully restored car that has been completely disassembled down to the last detail. A thorough and meticulous job carried out by the current owner over several years, with everything done to a very high standard."

Description

A car that, as far as we can tell, has had three owners. The current owner purchased it in October 2013 and has since carried out a thorough restoration, during which the car was stripped down to the chassis. While the engine internals have not been rebuilt, the entire electrical system, all hoses, the braking system, and the carburetors have been restored. The small 1.6-liter straight-six runs very smoothly and evenly.

The current front grille is not original, nor are the mounted wheels — although the original wheels are included. The steering wheel is also not original.

According to research, there are only about 10 of these cars registered in Sweden. The owner's estimate is that only 3–4 of them are currently in roadworthy condition.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

Excellent condition, with both engine and gearbox operating flawlessly. The clutch plates and release bearing have been replaced. All other technical equipment functions as it should, except for the horn and the left turn signal.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is classic British style, featuring elegant vinyl seats and wooden panels. There are some repairs on the top sections of the seat backs, and previous owners had headrests installed. New, high-quality carpets have been fitted.

  • Exterior condition:

The car has been beautifully repainted following extensive preparation work. Every part was painted, as the car was completely disassembled during the process. There are some minor scuff marks on the bumpers, but the owner chose to keep them as they are original — they do not detract from the car’s overall appearance. A new convertible top was installed during the restoration.

  • General condition:

The car offers a great overall feel, both in terms of driving experience and cosmetic condition. The bodywork has been thoroughly and carefully prepared, making the car completely rust-free. There are a few minor cosmetic imperfections, but nothing that stands out. The restoration has been carried out thoughtfully by a knowledgeable owner who has taken care to preserve as much of the car’s original character as possible.

Owner's comment

Forced to sell this beautifully restored car due to a change in living circumstances.

Facts about the model

The Triumph Vitesse is a compact six-cylinder passenger car produced by the British manufacturer Triumph Motor Company between 1962 and 1971. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, it was available in both saloon and convertible versions.

After production of the last Triumph Vitesse ended in 1971, the name remained unused until 1982. In that year, Rover revived the Vitesse name for use on the SD1 model, which continued until 1986. It was also used between 1984 and 1990 on the SD3 216, and on the Rover 800 from October 1988 to 1991, when the model was redesigned into the R17 version. The R17 continued in production as the Rover Vitesse Sport until 1998.
